I like Lafayette, but I find some of the people that live there to be very insecure.

A.C. is a very no nonsense kind of guy. New Orleans can be a very nonsense city. I hope he stays in his hotel room and studies ways to get open on OSU's defense.

Not really. Metairie is the burbs. I like it, but its the suburbs.

That actually has always been my impression of him and the impression i had when I read the quote in the OP. As Patton said, Cooper didn't like NYC either. Sounds to me like he prefers a little more laid back style of life. Good for him. Still hope New Orleans drafts him.

A lot of folks associate it with New Orleans. It's not, and that's fine. But yea, it's the burbs for sure.

Jeebus, you still in this thread?

quote:Stewart Mandel ?@slmandel 1m1 minute ago Ouch. Amari Cooper: "No disrespect to the place, but I don't really like New Orleans." Says too much going on, and it smells bad.
Um. Minor, ever so slight correction. He said B O U R B O N S T R E E T smells bad, not New Orleans.
If he doesn't like "New Orleans" because of ONE street, then he's really not very intelligent.
BTW, the entire length of Bourbon Street (as well as the Quarter) is cleaned every morning.
What are they cleaning? The spilled drinks, Skoal drool, and bodily fluids and excrements of hicks from Alabama, northerners from Ohio, and the tens of thousands of other visitors from out of state that walk down the several miles of Bourbon Street every month.
And in actuality, New Orleans proper has only 350,000 inhabitants, smaller than Baton Rouge.
BUT, the entire NOLA Metro Area is 1.3 MILLION people.
If he "dislikes" an area that big because he smells the tourists dumpings on Bourbon Street, then my fervent hope is that the Saints draft him and he sits on the bench like Ingram.
Oh, and alabammy smells also (except Auburn)...
Geaux Bucks.

Yea, the city sucks so bad the NFL has had its premier game, the Super Bowl, a record 11 times there. It is in the loop for the NCG every 4 yrs. N.O. has been cited by Travel & Leisure 3 times in the past decade for being one of the top designation tourist cities in the country. Between Jazz Fest, the French Quarter Fest, N.Y.Eve celebrations, etc etc etc, the city's tourism does not come close to depending on drunk college football fans for anything, let alone survivial. I am glad you all feel this way. Stay far far far away. It makes the Quarter, Frenchmen's St, the River Walk, Magazine St, UpTown all that much more enjoyable for us natives.
This is why we often get these comments about the smell of the city and the horrible crime rate. I have found that many of our neighbors from surrounding southern states are very jealous of the attention New Orleans receives and honestly can't understand why such a dirty city with such a high crime rate is so popular as a tourist destination.
I really didn't understand it until I started to travel extensively around the south especially. I have been all over Ms., Al., Tn. and Ar.(etc etc etc) and I can tell you without a doubt that the people of South La. are far more interesting and unique than our redneck cousins in the entire southeast. Sorry guys, you can pressure wash your sidewalks every day and lace them with gold and people will still flock to New Orleans for its interesting and unique history and culture.
Your food, architecture , history and the drawling, passionless, uninteresting personalities of the general population just isn't attractive to people outside of your region. Get over it.
