Suggestion for the OP in managing this: list all of the serious candidates as they come in and add a list of those once removed.
BTW, great thread!

Gurley had 124 yrds and 1 TD vs FLA
He had 122 yards and 2 TD vs Bama
Good call brah
Lattimore had 215 yds and 3 TDs AT Florida in the Swamp.
Lattimore had 95 tough yards and 2 TDs against an undefeated and #1 Alabama.
Lattimore had 187 yds and 2 TDs in the second game of his college carreer, the second game of his true freshman season against Georgia ... and that's always a tough game, regardless of one team being shitty or not - which I guess is what you are saying your Dawgs were in 2010?
Lattimore averaged 5 yds per carry his freshman season and only had 33 negative yards total for the entire season. The entire season he went backwards for a total of 33 yards.
Additionally, Lattimore had 412 yards receiving and 14 yds per catch his freshman season. And the kid did not miss blocks.
Gurley is good, Gurley is going to be excellent if he stays healthy, but Lattimore was and always will be the better true freshman back of the two.
Hell, Knowshon was a better freshman back than Gurley imho.

Wasn't that the year FL fired their coach?
I know it was UGA's first season with new DC and new 3-4 scheme.
And Bama was the defending NC and ranked #1 going into that game, how'd they finish in 2010? How did Latti do against the actual #1 that year?
Why the hate for Gurley? What is your major malfunction? Latti is gone to greener pastures, start talking about Davis or Wilds, the future is now.
And Knowshon was great, as was Latti, as is Gurley, what's that got to do with anything?
Gurley has had more yards for a tailback as a freshman than anyone in the SEC since Hershel Walker, period. Those are the facts. Deal with it 8)

That's fine. You said Gurley didn't have big game against big teams though when he clearly did. No one was arguing about Lattimore, he's a bad arse.

Uhhh, yeah. They lost 7 games, including a loss to Central Florida. I'd say that is pretty turrible.

Gurley averaged 6.2 and had only 30 yards of negative plays.

No he won't.

Yeah, Knowshon had killer year versus the scout team his true freshman year...

Chris Leak? Really? Come on man. Ever heard of freaking Johnny Football? In one year he has done more than a lot of four year qbs.

Mike Evans had a great year as a Fr. 82 receptions for 1105 yds and 5 TDs.

I don't think you are going to find a better true freshman cb from the SEC than honeybadger.

Dalton Hilliard needs to be on that list. He had a better freshman year than Herschel and had more TDs than DMac.
List is worthless without him. /thread

For Bama I would nominate WR Julio Jones, WR Amari Cooper, HB TJ Yeldon, and LT Andre Smith for consideration.

Lattimore should be in over Gurley or Yeldon IMO. I would say McFadden or Latt for the 2nd HB spot behind Walker.

Dalton Hilliard LSU,rushing for 901 yards and 11 TDs and adding five more scores receiving in 1982. His 16 total TDs and 92 points broke the NCAA freshman records that had been set two years earlier by Herschel Walker.

Dalton Hilliard had one of the greatest freshman seasons of all time. Your laughter indicates your ignorance. Good to know what you know - which is not a whole lot.

OLinemen from Bama:
Cyrus K.
Andre Smith
Chris Samuels
All three were tackles, just throwing names out there

Kevin Faulk's freshman season was about on par with Lattimore's.
LSU could have two on the list at RB: Hilliard and Faulk.

Some Tennessee mentions beside Eric Berry
Fat Albert Haynesworth had an All-American freshman year as a DT
Chad Clifton started four years at LT and is one of the game's best to this day when he is healthy...played big as a frosh when Manning was junior
