Its not his fault that two guys beat their man so bad that they arrived at the QB simultaneously.

Get over it. UF's line is as good as LSU's.

DL: Sam Montgomery
DL: Michael Brockers
DL: Devin Taylor (I realize that he is a DE but Brockers has been the only disruptive DT this season and the fact that he has 15 tackles already means he needs to be on here)
DL: Jadeveon Clowney
LB: Antonio Allen
LB: Danny Trevathan
LB: Jerry Franklin
CB: Tyrann Mathieu
CB: Casey Hayward
S: Mark Barron
S: Eric Reid

This is what is so frustrating. We have a lot of individual talent on our defense but as a unit they have been sub-par at best.

Dominique Easley not being on the All SEC team right now= Lulz. Jelani Jenkins would probably be on it as well, if people were making the list that actually watched all the teams in the SEC.

Upshaw has 12 tackles and 1/2 sack.
Hightower has 16 tackles and 1/2 sack.
Trevathan has 38 tackles and 1 sack.
Antonio Allen has 33 tackles.
Jerry Franklin has 23 tackles and 1/2 sack.

Now how many defensive plays has each of them been on the field for? Bama's handled their schedule the easiest of the four teams mentioned in this list (Kentucky, Arkansas, SCar and Bama). Not that hard to believe that Bama's 2's and 3's have been getting a ton of reps these past three weeks while the 1's wrap up their job by the late 2nd, early 3rd quarter. Meanwhile, a team like Kentucky that's getting its arse kicked up and down the field is probably going to have its starters out there a lot longer, hence more chances to make tackles.

Another fact is, there is a lot of tackles in the secondary for Bama's defense, because teams are trying to pass on Bama more than they are rushing. The opposite is true for Kentucky and South Carolina.

And finally, let's not forget where on the field these tackles are taking place. I'm talking about yardage. Comparing the total yardage of the four teams opponents...

South Carolina...
Total Plays/Yards: 207/1116 (5.4 yards per play)

Kentucky...
Total Plays/Yards: 208/944 (4.5 yards per play)

Arkansas...
Total Plays/Yards: 198/917 (4.6 yards per play)

Alabama...
Total Plays/Yards: 202/510 (2.5 yards per play)

So...you can have your more total tackles. I'll gladly take my linebackers who give up half as much yardage.

THe fact that the team as a whole against weaker competition gave up less yardage doesn't mean that they are all sec as of today.

All these "lists" will work themselves out in the end.

I get your point, but at the same time you have to consider how much harder it is to rack up tackles late in the game when you've been on the field for that long. Trevathan very rarely takes a play off and I don't know many guys that can sustain that type of effort series in and series out. He earns every bit of his 38.

He's also in direct competition with Winston Guy for tackles now that he's moved up closer to the line in Minter's scheme. Right now they're #4 and #26 in the country respectively in tackles.

The rest of our defense might not be much to talk about but I wouldn't trade Trevathan for anything. He's without a doubt ALL-SEC.

You would have to put Mo Claiborne in there as well. You might as well put the whole defense in there sprinkled in with BAMA players as well

He plays defense? Damn! What a badass!

Offense is a bit of a different story due to them still trying to find out what works best. Offense has struggled a lot more than the defense has. Defensive starters are making way for Soph and RS/True Freshmen reps in every game so far. That being said, remove the Penn State game (most difficult of the three games so far) and Trent is only averaging 12 carries a game (about a third of the total carries), so "stat padding" isn't entirely accurate. Eddie Lacey is averaging even less in those two games (8.5/game).

It's not just about which quarter really...but now we're getting into specifics that are much more difficult to track (defensively anyways).
