No Hightower or Upshaw at LB?

Child please

Upshaw has 12 tackles and 1/2 sack.
Hightower has 16 tackles and 1/2 sack.
Trevathan has 38 tackles and 1 sack.
Antonio Allen has 33 tackles.
Jerry Franklin has 23 tackles and 1/2 sack.

I'm not putting an Alabama linebacker on the list because they play for Alabama.

In a pro style offense he is a scat back.

1) We don't run a pro-style offense

2) Even if we did, he still wouldn't be. I guess you would consider Dion lewis would be a scat back when he was at Pitt...

3) Let it go

Does not qualify him as a complete or power back given the offense AU runs.

So Mike Dyer = scat back?

Mason is not a scat back. He is not the typical SEC back of 220+ bls. Not a scat back but he is not the usual monsters of the SEC. I do see him more as a finesse runner than a power runner. This is just my opinion but I feel like he would rather juke someone out of their shoes than knock them out of em.

Scat back, plain and simple...

Hell, he doesn't even have the mentality of a scat back. The dude lowers his pads and tries to deliver a boom when a defender is in front of him. This is laughable.

Exactly. Thank you. Just because he's not a power back doesn't mean he's a scat back

Far be it from me to ever agree with an Alabama fan, but there has to be some consideration of merits that aren't statistical-- things like the flexibility that allows other players to be productive is the one that leaps to mind.

You mention Jerry Franlin's 23 tackles and a half sack--- but to be honest, he's a stat sheet filler compared to our other two primary linebackers. Highsmith and Nelson have both had very mundane statistical years, but both have been key to the development of the Arkansas defense-- Highsmith particularly.

From the two Alabama games I have seen so far (I'm watching the North Texas game tonight), Hightower is not going to light up the stat sheet, but he will be invaluable in making the players around him better--- and FWIW, he does deserve some consideration for a All-SEC team to date.

Ahh, and here is the 'ole "fishing" technique that people use just to save face when they are labeled as complete idiots...

Pathetic...

Claiborne should be in TM7s place IMO.

Agreed. From what I've seen, Claiborne is far superior in coverage

Why would i have to save face ? My face has been torn to shreds on here already. Remember? He is a scat back in a pro style offense and I have said and maintained that from the get go.

he's as good as PP7 was in coverage

TM7 will hold the all-time forced fumble record at LSU sometime in October

Save what little face you have left, my bad...

I don't have a problem with you. I actually like you, but you continue to prove you ignorance when trying to talk about Auburn players. Just let it go, he isn't a scat back. And stop "fishing", it's just an idiotic method of saving face after proving you don't know what you're talking about.

Tre mason is a scat back and tackles are not the only stat to pay attention to for defensive players.
