You said drop baseball for soccer, lacrosse, hockey, and wrestling.

It is simply dumb to drop a sport that most kids in the south play for 4 sports that a very small percentage play.

If other Bammers share your view.....well thats where the last comment comes in.

Care to address the part I quoted?

And I'd say just as many kids play soccer as they do baseball.

In large cities sure.....in small rural areas that dominate the south....not even close.

Baseball is boring, MLB and college. Just not fun to watch. Not enough athleticism on display to keep anyone under the age of 40 entertained.

In high school we played football, basketball, and ran track. The kids who were not athletic enough played baseball. All white kids and one token "acceptable negro". You didn't even have to tryout for baseball anyone who wanted to be on the team made it.

Translation: It's boring to YOU. If you lived in an area where your favorite team was traditionally very good at baseball, you'd have a very different view. Almost every kid where i'm from plays at least t-ball through little league and most guys play h/s baseball. It was my favorite sport growing up and many share my sentiment for the sport. I agree that MLB gets boring because they play like 200 games--but college baseball is VERY fun to watch(you know, when you have a team that's worth 2 shits).

I guess you have to have an appreciation for the sport going in. I do.

So I can translate this into: Your baseball team sucked arse.

You know what? My football team sucked arse in high school. We only won 1 game in two years after Katrina and the some of the most unathletic, screwed up looking kids played football whereas in other sports they couldn't even have stayed on the same field(baseball, soccer)

Just don't make stupid generalizations. Not everyone shares bama fan's lax views on baseball

You obviously went to a school that didnt have very much talent then if anyone made the baseball team. Where Im from baseball is just as competitive as football. Hell in some areas of LA there are 12 yr old teams that look like(size-wise) a friggin high school team

Bama was pretty good during the 90s in baseball. That was actually around the time I quit playing in order to play more basketball and soccer. Then in high school, my team made the state finals and I still didn't care about it. The only reason I went was to get out of school.

I would say in the last 50 years more kids have played baseball than football or basketball......id say it is close in the last 10 years.

Obviously you came from a place that didnt give a shite about baseball......I come from a place where the whole town showed up for little league game days during the Spring. It was a family affair where people came together and socialized like American cities are supposed to do.

They got behind the teams. I also played pee wee football which was basically a league full of dad coaches trying to get their kid noticed by the big high schools in the area.

My grandfather loved baseball and drug us to braves games every year. Its a horrible sport to sit and watch. I admit that it is a hard sport to play and it takes serious talent, but it doesn't translate well for spectators who are not emotionally invested. Baseball is way down the list for those who didn't grow uploving it.

Baseball takes the athletic ability of say.. badminton and the likes. Quidditch takes more athletic prowess. It's a fine game and all, but it's not like they're real athletes.

No need to tell Alabama fans that. UA has won a few NC's in sports other than football in the last year.

What has LSU won in the last year?

It's not like Alabama hasn't historically been the second most consistently good program in baseball and basketball in SEC history or anything.

Gumps will be gumps and support things just cause they win. A major reason gumps like football.

I would rather go to an event for every other sport here besides gymnastics than go to a gymnastics event
