Why do API people keep saying that the Pearl hire is the force driving Bama to go after a highly rated coach. Bama beat them twice with a fired coach. What Bama is willing to do is bring it's program back to be a national relivance.

I think that the reason we are hearing so much flack from the API'ers, is because Bama has a solvent athletic deparment that can afford this jump. API is not in a solvent situation.

I'm not denying Pearl is not a good coach. But, paying him $2.2 million, how long are you going to keep him? The price for a good coach is going up. So is keeping one.

Because of all the coaches Saban forced out when he showed up at Bama.

They want that.

NCAA baggage draws pay downward. Paying him that much when no decent program would touch him is absurd.

Bama fans know this to be true..if Pearl isn't hired at AU, more than likely grant stays 1-2 more years...
bullshite - but you are entitled to your opinion.

The fact that AU made a huge hire forced Bill Battle's hand.
What other program was willing to pay Bruce $2.2 while he was still on a show cause from the NCAA? Pearl is a damn good catch for y'all. Good on AU for snagging him at the right time.

Now he will throw ton of cash out there to someone who will only come to Bama brcause of the money..
Is that a bad thing? UA can certainly afford to throw tons of cash and extra's to a coach, so why not?

I guess that would be better than going to some shithole just to say you have a job. Or was that the great Auburn hoops tradition that convinced Pearl it was the right choice?

It might just be the updated facilities and the overall attitude that AU supports more than just football... Have you seen your bball arena lately? The place is a dump and needs to be tore down all the while you keep adding bigger and better football facilities... What coach wants to walk into that?

You're right.

How many SEC coaches are still in the conference since Coach Saban returned? Miles/Richt/Spurrier.....is that it?

Your 5,500 avg attendance doesn't sound like great support. Sounds like a Sun Belt team.

I kind of picture you out in the backyard with a blindfold on trying to swat mosquitoes. Is that one of your hobbies?

Is this a joke? Bama supports it's athletics more than AU across the board.

You proved to me I know exactly what I'm talking about... There were even rumors that CG was gonna stay another year up until two weeks ago.. AU winning those games in the SEC tournament sealed his fate... Keep throwing millions at these big name coaches and keep pay CG through 2019 and don't worry about your facilities... Bama bball will never be a close second in yalls athletics program... Too many sidewalk fans that their lives depend on football.

Highly doubt they are negotiating at this time. HIGHLY doubt it.
This may sound sacrilegious (and I apologize for it), but Jesus, you're an idiot!
