And I know it's early. But I haven't heard any positive things on Burton Scott or Tyler Love since they've been at Bama.

How Love is little to no threat to start next year on a depleted OL.

I'm talking about for next year.

how is he supposed to get in line for a starting job when he spent 3/4 of this year in a no contact jersey? Not sure whoever you "heard" this "info" from took that into account.

Most hilarious was the fact from 2002-2007 the State of Alabama had 3 5-star players total. In the past 2 classes (2008, 2009) the state of Alabama has had 6 5-star players...

And you saw how influential our last class was on the field. We signed a huge amount of kids in-state last year and a big number of them contributed this season. If the on the field production matches the "hype," where is the problem?

This whole "Rivals is biased towards Alabama" thing really looks like a few LSU fans preparing someone to blame in the unlikely event Alabama passes LSU in recruiting this year. I mean... what kind of paranoia is this? How does Rivals or Scout benefit from favoratism? Short answer, they wouldn't. Even the perception of that would be damaging. This discussion is a waste of your time.

Nobody has a problem with last year's class really as it was expected to big on talent and was. This year however was SUPPOSED to be a down year and it's turned into almost the exact opposite.

According to who? Bama fans? Hell, all of you think we talk out of our asses every time we speak, why would you listen now?

According to anyone who followed recruiting.

I'm saying if you take their overall rank on scout transplant that to rivals on rivals they would only have 2 5-stars total instead of 5 (on scout) or 6 (on rivals).

Got it. Thanks.

So people, who basically have zero say-so or prior knowledge on how a player will develop, physically and mentally, over the course of a year, are your sources for thinking this? Dude, thousands upon thousands of factors go in to recruiting each and every year. Kids get bigger, faster, stronger, motivated, etc. to better themselves from their junior to senior years. Not to mention they may have played out of position their junior years which could have kept them from standing out. Prime example, Branden Smith the CB out of Georgia, didn't play football until his junior year. He went on the camp circuit last summer and played lights out his senior year. Now he is a 5-star. You have to realize things change. These people you are referring to are not psychic, they are just giving their, usually baseless that far out time-wise, opinion on how things will end up.

Remember, this time last year, anyone who followed college football thought Georgia would be the national champs in 2008.

Instate as a whole is down a bit from last year, ie the top 30 instate players are not as strong from top to bottom, but the top five or six are very strong. Out of Dre, Nico Johnson, and Fluker, which of those did rivals bias inflate their status. Those 3 are all legitimate 5 stars.

Which one or ones do you feel is not legit?

If Nico is a 5* then minter is close if not one himself, hes not even in the 250. Fluker without Katrina wouldn't be a 5* guaranteed.

Yeah, Yeah Patrick I'm sure Saban evaluates and recruits players based on what Rivals.com writes.
Come on man, GET OVER IT!!!

What are you gonna say when RR and company come to "The Promised Land". Where will their stock be?

Nico is the #32 rated player on rivals, and has been in the 30-39 range since the original player ratings came out last year. He is rated the #25 on scout, what's the problem?

Because he would most probably be stuck at some New Orleans public school. What does that have to do with anything?

Probably not, he will be a redshirt freshman who was hurt all season. Will T. Toliver finally make an impact, that usually happens much easier for players at his position than for olineman. He will be a redshirt soph. next year I think. By the standard you are using for T Love he was overrated as well.

After this year do you still think C Jones was worthy of being a 5 star. His entire college reputation is based on sacking JPW in 07.

You, my good friend, are fricking retarded.

Chad Jones was misused this year by an inept coaching staff.

He will be a true junior next year, and has done plenty to contribute to the LSU defense.

Only in a gumps eyes is a player defined by one play in a game against Alabama.

Toliver HAS made an impact, and still has the potential to be a superstar.

He's had one year as a true freshman behind a couple of the best receivers in college football.

Then he had several great games as a true sophomore with a QB who struggled mightily all year, and then with a true frosh QB who had all of 6 months in the program.

Not every 5* receiver has to be Julio Jones to make an impact.
