Funny. I didn't see anywhere that the NCAA recognizes anyone as the best team in any given year, except to give legitimacy to the organizations that award Championships. Seems they think 2003 was a split Championship as well.

The only title I have ever touted was the sec title. It's the only title the team and coaches have 100% control over. It's also harder to win than the bcs. You can't finish 2nd in the west/east and win the sec title.
