I don't hate the neutral site games. I just wanted a better variation of locations.

Wouldn’t have happened with Ohio state in a neutral venue.

Our AD has been opposed to them since he got there back in 06 or 07 or whatever.

Home and home at historic college football venues is how the game should be played. Not sterile corporate NFL stadiums

I don't hate them in theory - I do hate them every season when they are the only OOC P5 game.

Once every 3/4 years is fine, or as the 2nd P5 game.

seem to finally be willing to go to another campus

Alabama went to Duke in 2010. Duke.

I went to that game, back when Wallace Wade Stadium had a capacity of 33,941, and the crowd was more red than blue.

I remember them still having a track around their field, and the fact that the entire Alabama team gathered near a small field house at the half.

the biggest thing I'm liking about the new scheduling is that we are seeing 2 P5 games. That's the trend I hope continues.

I like it when we had a neutral site game at the same venue that the playoffs/championships were happening at.

I think it gives teams an advantage because they are more familiar with things. Which I once read is the biggest factor in home field advantage.

But I'm not a season ticket holder, don't live in Alabama, etc. So I'm watching games from the TV either way.

Yeah, and they are high quality/big name opponents also. Not "Oh that Purdue team is a P5 team, let's play them".

They were offered a “neutral site” game in Dallas after Bama backed out of the home and home. Get your facts straight.

It’s pathetic that they ain’t played anyone legit in a home and home since penn state in 2011. Even then penn st wasn’t all that.

I’m sorry I used the wrong terminology for you, yes they were having more success in the timeframe being discussed. The dumpster fire of the 2012 season keeps the record totals close, but Michigan State’s is still superior. Also playing in a better league, and being successful in their bowls (other than when Bama curb-stomped them twice).

MSU
2010: 11-2
2011: 11-3
2012: 7-6
2013: 13-1
2014: 11-2
2015: 12-2
2016: 3-9
2017: 10-3

USC
2010: 8-5
2011: 10-2
2012: 7-6
2013: 10-4
2014: 9-4
2015: 8-6
2016: 10-3
2017: 11-3

LSU H/H since 2011

2011 - @ West Virginia (10-3, #18)
2012 - Washington (7-6, UR)
2013 - N/A
2014 - N/A
2015 - @ Syracuse (4-8, UR)
2016 - N/A
2017 - Syracuse (4-8, UR)
2018 - N/A
2019 - @ Texas (8-5, #25)

Let's not act like LSU had some powerhouse home/homes lined up over that same period. LSU and Alabama did the same thing - played big neutral site games in Dallas and Atlanta (LSU also played 1 at Lambeau and 1 in Houston, while Alabama played 1 in Orlando).

I'm just glad we aren't doing it anymore.

Yeah, I know... I brought that up in just about all my posts...

Again, not even remotely trying to compare Alabama and MSU in future..

The fact that you have to parse down to this level once again shows how silly it is to act like Alabama ran away from Michigan State to play little ole USC. At best Michigan State was a slightly better program from 2010-2017 - one that Alabama played already in 2010 and beat by as much as they decided they wanted to.

Alabama wanted to play big-time neutral site games (which we did) so they canceled the MSU series. It's as simple as that. Personally, I would have much rather played Michigan State in a H/H, but that wasn't what we were doing at the time.

Do you think OOC teams are lining up to schedule Alabama?

It takes two teams to agree to a series.

They also didn’t want to travel to a another Power 5 program’s campus, whether it be MSU or anyone else. It’s the only point I’ve been trying to make this entire time. Was always a bitch move to only play “neutral site” games.

Why play at someone else's campus when you're being offered millions to play at a neutral site against a similar caliber opponent? Also easier to schedule a neutral site on shorter notice, which is what we were looking to do due to conference realignment.
