And while I wouldn't put much into the rankings between conferences, I'm sure they are still much better than the raw stats. There is still some adjustment being done, which is much better than none.

No doubt

College football deserves asterisk

Just going to leave this here since we are all posting opinion pieces.

They also have LSU ranked as the #2 team last year, before the NCG which seems ridiculous to me, considering I never once thought Ohio State was the best team in the country last year

#1 Offense easily, it was your defense that caused that, down near 20 or so.

It's not to say LSU wouldn't have beat Ohio St in a game, it's just your overall "power" score. Computers also rate your entire year, so bad games hurt.

I do not like any of the "advanced metrics" team rankings. I don't really even look at those as the same thing as their unit rankings.

The unit rankings take stats, filter out garbage, and take who they were against and give you an adjusted number.

The "total team" ranking requires them guessing on how much offense and defense mean and matter and all that. It also looks at teams as an average of their total season. I think I remember Connelly tweeting that the last 5 games LSU was #1 in the country in SP+ by a pretty decent margin (on the backs of their defense being a Top 15 unit compared to barely a Top 40 unit the first 8-9 weeks).

Well, the Washington Capitals NHL beat writer definitely deserves to have his say too.

Jumped to the end to see how far this thread has digressed. Pretty far I’d say.

You just gotta be really stupid or really desperate to believe these stats are accurate.

That's really what it boils down to. Georgia has the 85th best defense? You truly think that is true?

No and You obviously didn’t click the link!

As if we need to add a FCS team and a crappy G5 team to make things complete.

How are you gonna pad the RB stats without those games?

after losing his #1 WR for the season

Imagine hating all things Louisiana so much that you think Waddle was the #1 over Devonta Smith that has started for the last 3 years and is the betting favorite for the Heisman after winning AP offensive player of the year. The Gump is strong with you.

He's actually thrown into a tight window on 15.2% of his passes this season, a rate that is about four percentage points higher than Tagovailoa's last season and is nearly double that of Justin Fields (8.3%) this year. Oh, and Jones has also been the most accurate passer on tight-window throws this season — by a large margin.

It even reads like it was specifically written to laugh at your incorrect assessment

He is very accurate, but most of the time the WRs are unchallenged by the DBs

Yea, Mac Jones can't throw the deep ball

You got your Tua talking points messed up old guy. Recalibrate and try again.

He throws a good deep a ball, but again there are not usually in DBs within a couple of yards of the WR on those route. When you have 4 seconds to set up, that happens. SEC Ds this year suck.

I read, but what is their definition of a tight window ? Is it measured in distance from a defender ? Two defenders ? Is it measure by the extension of the WRs arms ? Tell us . Or is it just another eye test for reporters?

I've seen the page multiple times over the past few days. Those stats suffer from the same exact problems.

No answer from SOG. Again what is the definition of a tight window ? Does it change from year to year ? Never seen it as an official NCAA Category.

Exception: Bama didn’t defeat 5 top 10 teams
Difference in competition when comparing both teams. So LSU still on top
