Notre Dame has 8 AP championships
USC has 6 combined AP and UPI national championships (plus one vacated)
Ohio State has 6 AP, UPI, BCS and Playoff era championships combined
I stopped looking after those three

Basically, he disregarded every national title before 1992 unless all the pools unanimously agreed on someone as champ (which obviously rarely happened since there were multiple 0/1 loss major teams).
But in the end it enables me to make more fun of the other SEC schools as shittier than us so I'm good with it.

The biggest problem with Chicken's logic is that #1 vs #2 wasn't possible in many years because of bowl tie ins and most notably the Rose Bowl tie in.

And there were actual title games where it wasn't #1 vs #2 (like the 66 Orange with #3 Nebraska and #4 Alabama and the 97 Sugar with #1 Florida State and #3 Florida).
The first #1 vs #2 bowl with a title on the line was the 69 Rose when y'all beat USC.
