And means as much to determine the national champion as an espn fan poll.

When the bcs eventually goes away sure, the AP will have merit again. But right now, and since 2004, it doesn't mean a damn thing.

Unless you are a Bama fan that claims that absolutely ridiculous UPI 1973 National Title after getting beat by undefeated and AP Poll Champion Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.

Well duh. You obviously keep making this threads to look for approval and attention from your daddy (LSU).

I agree with hg's post.

This board is supposed to be related to the SEC as a whole.

Maybe, maybe not. One thing is sure though, all national contenders (coaches and players) speak of and play for the BCS Crystal Trophy. No one says "I want the AP #1". They opted out of process and those days are gone. As the years and decades go by the AP, FWAA and others will go the way of Houlgate and Dickerson...meaningless. You'll see this increase rapidly with 2015 playoff. AP poll...who cares, means nothing. Not a hack on UA, congrats. I'm speaking of the bigger picture.

I doubt the AP ever goes away. I know LSU fans hate the AP because of USC in 03, but USC was #1 in the coaches poll and the AP, but was left out of the BCS. They lost one game in OT by a field goal, LSU stunk it up vs an avg Ron ZOOK UF team and OU was blown out in the Big 12 championship. I have tremendous respect for the AP for pulling out of the BCS it was a travesty. The coaches were obligated to vote the winner of the BCS #1 eventhough they clearly had USC #1 before the bowls as well.

BCS is now dead and is only a small blip in the history of college football. AP remains and will continue.

If LSU could've looked competitive on 1/9 the AP probably would've awarded LSU a share of the title. I think the world would've agreed with the decision even Bama fans.

So you don't claim 14 national championships?

Not everyone is incapable of seeing without their schools coloured glasses. Disregard, I forgot my audience. Addressing the other statements would be pointless.

Yet it managed to shut out the team which did.

See, I think the arguments from both sides about what either team did or didn't win are frankly a bit old and tired by now.

Can we move on to the season which is currently in progress yet?

ETA: And can we dispense with the pointless fricking fap threads, or at least move them to the Alabama page already?
