“Sportsbook surveillance video indicated that the person who placed the bets was communicating with Bohannon at the time, multiple sources with direct information about the investigation told ESPN.”

Just a complete dumbass. He had to be deep in debt or something. He had a cush job. He was doing enough on the field to keep his job.

Corruption is so rampant within that organization that he probably didn't even know that this was wrong. They have literally cheated at everything for years with no consequences.

I was about to say, if he did this himself, he was apparently very stupid.

The OCCC's investigation is centered on two bets on the Tigers to win from the same unidentified customer. A source familiar with the investigation told ESPN's Pete Thamel that there's "no reason to believe any student-athletes are involved."
Alabama's scheduled starting pitcher, ace Luke Holman, was scratched before the LSU game due to back tightness and was replaced by sophomore Hagan Banks, who hadn't started since March 16.
Regular-season college baseball does not typically attract significant betting interest or large wagers. FanDuel said it didn't take a single bet on the game, and other sportsbooks also reported minimal betting on the game.
It sounds like either Bohannon or someone "in the know" on the staff found out this pitching change was coming and placed a huge bet on LSU to win, but it was red-flagged because there were literally no other bets out there.
Idiotic in all respects.

I will be confirming with a 2nd source before I break any news about the Alabama Baseball gambling situation that resulted in Head Coach Brad Bohannon’s firing today But the detailed information I got from a very trusted source was shocking This is a very serious situation

Was just calling him to shoot the breeze and it got mentioned that the starting pitcher was out. He had no idea that this information would be used in a crime. Wrong place, wrong time. Coincidence that coach gets himself thrown out over an early game foul ball that was unlikely to have impact on game. He didn’t know that arguing a call after replay had reviewed it was an automatic ejection.

Makes me wonder how far this rabbit hole goes. Can it really be the case that this is isolated to Alabama?
He was caught because he was a complete idiot. What are the non-idiots doing?

He probably didn’t have to do much during the game that otherwise would have been suspicious because of the early 8-1 LSU lead
Bama fans, were there other games in which questionable decisions were made in tight games? Just curious

No it's not.
Always have someone else do your dirty work.

Byrne should be fine as long as football doesn’t have any major issues.

I believe it,but don't believe it. Forget "Alabama." Why would a relatively young coach like him risk his whole career and reputation on something this stupid?? Even the Pete Rose defenders agree had Pete bet against (best Doug Moreau imitation) that he would be toast.
I'd love to hear --if this is accurate-- why in the world he would involve himself on something like this.

I don't follow baseball, but didn't I read that game ended up 8-6?
I'd imagine there were some tight buttholes in the Alabama dugout there towards the end.
Picture someone being dumb enough to actually do this, and then also losing the bet.
