Who cares? Hopefully the $40 million was spent simply to make the stadium look more aesthetically pleasing to football recruits when they enter and leave the Mal Moore Athletic Facility.

Probably the truth.

Football Only Gumps (FOGS) make every sport not named football less fun. We follow the sports because we once experienced the fun of being good. If Alabama had never been good, I'd be the same. But when the baseball team is competing for a national seed, it makes the spring much more enjoyable. Most FOGS have only been around for the past few years, so they have no clue what I'm talking about.

Battle doesn't want to go through another coaching search, so he uses the excuse that Alabana basically played all their games on the road and not at an actual home site. Pretty much sucks because there was a time where Bama Baseball was fun and interesting and always competitive, but now, it's mediocre and impossible to watch.

Unlike most FOGS, I have been around for a little while. Even when we were good in the late-90s I didn't really care. And that's back when I was a bigger baseball fan than I was a football fan.

Now we all just have to hope that Gaspard Biancos and makes a super next year so Bama will be forced to retain him.

ALabama fandom everybody

I hate to stand up for an alabama fan here, but i don't think his reasoning is unique to alabama fans.

College baseball is significantly inferior to it's professional counterpart. The best players are international or go to the pros out of high school and you don't play with the same equipment.

Good for those who love it, but unlike with college basketball or football i can completely understand someone not giving a shite about college baseball.

If your looking for more thread views, I recommend you re-write your title so that you attract more Bama fans to this subject.

I'd recommend leading with:

"Alabama AD has Death Wish for Program"

Ya see there. If you mention Alabama then you have to leave out baseball and Gaspard's name. Thread views will increase dramatically.

Honestly, I think he should get one more year since they're moving into their new ballpark. If he doesn't win next season then they need to start interviewing.

All of that is wrong, but it is fine that you believe it. My post was pointing out the frontrunning nature of Bama fans. Softball was important because Bama was good at it. Now they are in the middle of a host of great SEC teams (which is still elite nationwide, mind you), so no one cares.

This.

College baseball is little better than high school baseball. Sure it's fun to win but, at the end of the day, it's a significantly inferior product to the professional game.

So it is unique to only bama fans, and you guys play with the same equipment as the pros? Maybe it is time to give this old game a ride.

So is college gymnastics, but when Bama is good, you would think that the product was just the same as the pro product. The reasoning is laughable. The real issue is Bama fans are frontrunners. They care only about sports in which they win championships. That's the long and short of it.

Even then I only attended two games because I was chasing after one of their players. Had there not been someone I knew who was on the team, I wouldn't have ever gone to a single softball game in my four years at UA. And that was when they were the lone good team in the SEC.

You would either find me at a football game or a basketball game. I really didn't care too much about the other sports.

and no tournament in the last four years

this is the biggest knock on him. with how competitive the SEC is, if you screw around long enough, you'll find yourself in a situation like Tennessee baseball is...no one wants to play baseball there anymore, and you have plentiful options within close proximity to play on winning programs.

If Dave Serrano can't get that team out of the mire, I'm not sure what they can do.

This basic premise is true of a lot of SEC fans in sports other than football. Attendance and interest ebbs and flows in these "secondary" sports depending on the success of the team. This isn't unique to Bama fans at all.

No one said it was unique. Your fan base is the biggest and Bama has the most frontrunners. I'm not sure if it is just because the fan base is the biggest or if Bama fans are disporpotiantely poor and stupid relative to other fan bases. Frankly, it doesn't matter. The point remains.
