You realize that one final four puts both Alabama and Auburn squarely in the middle of the SEC? Each is tied for 7th all time among SEC schools. If Auburn wins this game they will be in 7th all alone and Alabama will fall into a tie at 8th. No, that isn’t a brag for Alabama or Auburn, but just an observation on the historic irrelevancy of SEC basketball.
Basketball is a northern sport, where kids are tramped indoors in gyms for 6 months out of the year because of the weather. In the south, many more kids go outside and play football and/or baseball.
