I'm not saying it wasn't the agreement they came to. You're right, the AP can award whoever the hell they want. It mattered because it was a respected poll and they recognized USC as the #1 team, which pissed off a bunch of LSU/SEC fans. The AP ranked them #1, USC didn't rank themselves #1. The fact is USC won the AP National Championship in 2003.. how much people value that is up to them.

It matters to people who couldn't accept the reality. They didn't make it into the BCS game, they didn't win a national championship.

A group of writers doesn't mean shite in an era where it's decided on the field.

Going beyond that, the Pac and Big10 also blocked expanding the playoffs back in those days as well. All because of the Rose bowl. Maybe if they hadn't been trying to stop progress of the sport for so many decades they would have had a chance.

He was probably a kick six away from 3 in a row.

I feel that people are finally beginning to stop trolling us about the split title and are giving that 2003 LSU team a lot more credit.

Ive always said LSU won it and USC's claim is BS. We all agreed on a format

With out looking it up, can anyone confirm for sure that the AP top 4 is the same as they playoff top 4 that is because once we went to the Playoff the AP/ coaches poll don’t matter.
This is the same thing that happened to the AP and when the BCS came

I know the BCS top 4 has matched the CFP top 4 every year. Not sure about the AP

Well it is simple to know who won the natty that year. Go over to the USC football facility and ask to take a picture the crystal football from 2003 because Reggie Bush was your favorite player that year.

always thought Oklahoma shouldn't have been in that game after getting trounced by Kansas State 35-7.

OU had amassed so much capital across the regular season that the outcome of that game wasn't gonna matter.
