3. Oregon 9-0
4. Notre Dame 9-0

Had Oregon remained unbeaten, they vault into the #2 spot.

The point is irrelevant.

Mike Sherman, who went 4-8, 6-7, 9-4, then 6-6, would not have coached A&M to a 12-0 record.

Under Sherman, A&M loses to Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas State, Baylor, Oklahoma State, and likely Missouri in a hypothetical 2012 season.

Sherman would never have been fired if we didn't leave the Big 12 for the SEC. What part of that is so hard for you to understand?

Without the impetus of the SEC move, and Sherman publicly speaking out against it, the loss to Texas in the final meeting is just another home loss and not an "unforgivable sin".

Do you seriously think that Bill Byrne, the most football-incompetent AD in College Football history would fire Sherman after the 2011 season when he wouldn't fire Franchione after the 2005 season?

How do you know that? Sherman was fired for going 6-6 after starting out in the top 10.

1. Sherman went 6-6. Tim DeRuyter coached the bowl.

2. Sherman publicly criticized the SEC move after the loss to Oklahoma State.

3. R. Bowen Loftin flat out wrote in his book that he fired Sherman because he refused to hire an offensive coordinator and was willing to keep him even after the Texas loss, but that refusal was the ultimate deal-breaker.

Sherman was gone regardless of the conference move.

You can't possibly know that, not with his guaranteed contract.

Sherman was fired, according to a source, because he had a losing record in conference play in four years, lost not only to Texas in the final meeting for the foreseeable future, but continued to lose in the same manner - late in the game after watching leads dissipate.

according to a source

According to multiple sources, the reason A&M's football contracts are so lousy is because the Dallas and Houston donor bases use those contracts to keep the other from undermining their influence.

Franchione = Dallas
Sherman, Sumlin = Houston

The actual behind the scenes crap that goes on with A&M's donors is not trusted to reporters from ESPN.

I remember his agreement with the Big 12 that let Texas have the most money with the Aggies agreeing to accept a lesser amount led to the SECede movement among Aggie fans.

And what did Manziel actually do for a&m? That is, besides continue the family history of being a bunch of douche bags...and he keeps raising and passing that bar on a daily basis.

Ummm, no.

The conference television deal gave the teams that played on TV the most, the most money.

And A&M voted for that. (You see, they were for it before they were against it.)

But they kept sucking and not getting selected for TV, and they didn't make as much money.

That's where you schmucks come in. They latched on to the SEC's financial success to float that aggie boat.

They needed the money, they are still paying off a multimillion dollar loan from the academic side to pay the bills in mid-to-late 2000s. They had to fire some people to save money.

Didn't your AD finish a year very recently in the red?

And you blamed a lack of concerts at your basketball gym?

They went two percent over budget (I think it was a 3 million deficit with a 160 million budget).

But when you have $40 million in cash as reserves, you can handle it.

They didn't go in the red the next year.

Apparently, aggy didn't have ANY kind of reserve and had to beg the old CIA dick who led y'all for a loan. The chica president who succeeded him let the cat out of the bag about the loan, and the rednecks ran her off.
