seems like Francios would take advantage at the right times

Sure, and I'd argue that Winston was a better QB in the system and he took advantage more without running.

no argument here

seems like his pro-style can still take spread hs kids and teach them

unlike what was happening at LSU with Miles

He had absolutely no idea what system he wanted.

Look at the quarterbacks Sumlin recruited:

2013 - Kenny Hill (dual threat), Kohl Stewart (pro-style)
2014 - Kyle Allen (pro style)
2015 - Kyler Murray (dual threat), Jake Hubenak (pro-style EMERGENCY)
2016 - Nick Starkel (pro style)
2017 - Connor Blumrick (?), Kellen Mond (non-throwing)

better athlete than Starkel I hear, but he's behind him and needs a ton more reps. If he passes him it will be based on physical development.. saw a pic of Blumrick after one year in program and he's added good mass well ahead of Starkel.

Everyone talks about missing out on Allen, Murray and Stidham.. forgotten is Martell. My kid knows him, he still talks about A&M and what could have been. 100% A&M ran off the Martell commitment, Tate was all in and would inquire were he to transfer.

Having said that.. you dodged a huge bullet, can't have a QB that's the most hated player on the roster.

Connor Blumrick tore his ACL very early into his senior year and missed the entire season as a result. He was redshirted this year as a precaution and didn't play in the Spring Game.

He's not just bigger than Starkel, he's also 3 inches taller (6'6).

That man bun though...

There's no way he and Nick Starkel could coexist after the infamous series of tweets that happened this past summer. ("arse, my dude")

No one can coexist with Martell.. he's as bad or worse than what he projects on social media and the ESPN docs.

He won't last another year at tOSU.

Gunnell is the QB of the future, and Fisher recruited him as well. The guy is going to be damned good, and have a lot of talent around him

Starkel will do just fine in the meantime

Sumlin had 3 distinctly different offenses in his time at A&M. Which one are you referring to?

The one that actually had success

JFF only had a single year with Kingsbury. Hard to say what could have been had Tubs not ditched Tech opening a spot for Kliff.

I do think Sumlin would still be here had he stayed for 3 or 4 years though. For all of his issues as HC of Tech, he has proven he knows how to pick great QBs.

Sumlin never had an offensive identity. He ran a single back clinic I guess, but abandoned that for his current OC. And "single back" is hardly any offensive identity it's so broad. He just did what his OCs wanted.

Sumlin would still be at A&M if he had just listened to Stidham begging for an offer, not once but twice

Sumlin sucked at managing QB’s
