Aggies - do you really appreciate what just happened?

While we appreciate the Aggie traditions, please remember that A&M is only the 3rd addition to the SEC in 78 years.
Proud but humble would be a good theme.
Welcome.

Fuuuuck that.
All they're gonna do is water down the league. All they're good for is a short road trip.

Let's just be real...it's the T.V. market that makes A&M attractive to the league. The school tradition has jack shite to do with it.

As an A&M and LSU alum living in Houston, I'm excited as hell. SEC football only 1 hour away

A&M is a good school with tons of positives and minimal negatives....

Let's just say I will appreciate being able to make fun of the "yell leaders".

My first three years of college, A&M and LSU used to play each other. Road trips to Baton Rouge and seeing Tigers at Kyle Field was just the way we started the season.
And then *poof* it was gone. I didn't appreciate it until we started playing boring, mid-western Big XII teams.
No we're joining America's greatest conference. I am thrilled, though I know growing pains are ahead.

Didn't they just receive two or was it three national titles last year? In the top 25 all time football programs in the country, and they're going to water down the league? Really?

That's so stupid. How are they going to water it down more than UK, Vandy, and State have?

Yeah, they've got a good athletic program, I can't wait to cheer on the extra track and women's basketball NC's they'll bring into the SEC.
They have positives for the conference definitely. I just don't like TAMU. They're an odd, cultish school that will bring as much football success as South Carolina or Arkansas...they'll make some noise a couple of times a decade when all the other schools are down.

Those are recent memories, and not taking into account the draw that they will bring recruits from Texas to play closer to home, namely pull hard from UTx, which would explain why they really hate to see TAMU go.
I just don't think you're thinking this all the way through. This will also benifit LSU as well in recruiting, and it's good for the conference on a whole. THis is a positive thing for the conference, and quite honestly, they belong and fit in more with the SEC than they ever did in the Big 12. Their traditions are kick arse, as is their spirit, and Kyle field is one of the toughest venues to play in the country, consistently amongst the tops in the country.
BTW, for S&G I just did a count of the SEC teams and National Titles in all sports that the NCAA recognize from their site, including all CFB NC from CFDW. Here it is:
LSU 46
Ark 42
UGA 28
UF 23
UT 20
UA 17
AU 17
TAMU 12 (don't think that counts the recent ones)
UK 9
USCe 2
UM 2
Vandy 1
MSU 0

Nice post Mike.....I think A&M joining the conference is a good thing too. I miss playing them 2nd game of the year. They had some good teams back then....

They're very a good fit for the conference...semi geographically, tv market wise, recruiting wise, academically. I just don't like their culture. They seriously are some sort of weird cult, and you'll get more and more tired of their traditions the more times they tell you about them, and they think theirs are better. They might even claim that they invented "tradition." What can I say, I just don't like A&M.

Don't get me wrong, I want to kick their asses too, and am not a fan, but when you really think about it, it's a great fit and will be a net plus for the conference. Plus, we owe those son of a guns big time for the butt whippings they put on us during the Hallman era. Five straight losses to the Aggies simply cannot stand unanswered.
