Detmer is a bad comp because he rarely ran with the ball. It's esp insulting to Ags to mention him because he was made into a complete bitch in the Holiday Bowl by the Wrecking Crew. Just a horrific beatdown, I honestly kind of hoped they would stop the game because so many BYU players got hurt and it was so out of reach. Those A&M teams just HURT people with that defense.
Charlie Ward and Fran are the best comps because they ran and threw. Flutie is ok but he was smaller and not nearly as fast. Vick had a stronger arm and is faster but nowhere near as elusive or instinctive. Vick is like RGIII.
Manziel is going to be a one of a kind in the end though, just never seen a Freshman do what he is doing.

JFF is his own man. I think he's more like a bigger Doug Flutie with a bit of Mike Vick in him.
The freshman at Oregon is better though. He just doesn't have the rock star persona that JFF does, and he didn't just beat the #1 team in the nation..

Steve Young is the most accurate assessment/comparison beucase you have to remember, JFF is just a RS freshman. He's not anywhere near as accurate as Young was when he was in the NFL but at this point in his career he's not supposed to be.
he's a little (lot) short, but if he can work on his accuracy he has an NFL future.

He is incredibly talented..i have a lot of respect for the kid. He's gonna probably lose the heisman to collin klein this year, but he will get it next year
