Back to 2008? I found a thread in 2009 when yall were pretty excited about him:
Very good, now look at what the Vols were saying about him at the time.
Hint: Search for '3rd and Chavis' from 2008-09. LSU fans didn't make that up.
Here's one I found:

Fine by me. Just get used to "third and Chavis" or the one my neighbors always bitch about "why are the DB's not even near the receiver?". And of course the ever popular Prevent Defense.
Everyone I talk to here says he was a good DC and did good things, but no one is sorry to see him leave.

The funny thing is that these threads look EXACTLY like LSU fans defending the hire to Tennessee fans back in 2009. The Vols tried to warn us, but we'd have none of it.
And if Chavis were to move on from Aggieland to somewhere else, I'd bet large that Aggie fans would wind up saying the same things to the fans of Chavis' new school.
The same...damn...things.

You don't understand that the 90s was the outlier in LSU football? Otherwise we maintained a pretty successful track record.

Must be him, I mean with 1,000 LSU fans in CS, what are the odds that more than one owns a white F150?

No doubt, it's the nature of fandom.
Your coach is always great - until he sucks.

Of course LSU has been an all-time successful football program. I don't think anyone would argue against that. But the assumption that because LSU has been good recently means they that will always be the case is absurd. Even during the good decades, LSU had some down times, right? All that means is that LSU can rebuild from its poor years faster than many other programs. The reasons for this are fairly obvious.
College athletics are not static. Heck, things change season to season. The scary thing about the SEC West this season is that, in my opinion, I only see one team that has not significantly improved from last year: Ole Miss. And they'll still be tough to beat for any team.

Since you do live here what are you opinions on College Station? Do you like it or hate it?

It was sour grapes then like it is sour grapes now. He was extremely successful at both UT & LSU. I'm willing to wager he'll be successful at A&M too then when he leaves there will be some sour grapes from A&M.
