But it won't make money...that's the point.
UNC and UVA are very obviously the two top choices. If you had to settle for the non flagship schools from those states then you probably do it.
Any school from a state the SEC already has a presence in is a non starter.

As a fan, having your hated in-state rival in the conference is a good thing. I would know.

No. It's not. You've never known any different though.
They need to stay poor.

Not really
But even if YOU think so, it's still reality. All modern conference expansion has been driven by conference networks and carriage fees. Aside from the Big 12 who is simply scrambling to stay afloat.

I like you Gen but even you have to admit that you made a silly statement and then crawfished around full circle

Scared is not accurate. I would just suffice it to say that I enjoy them languishing in that shitty conference.
We already play them annually. They chose this path. Let them walk it. There's no good reason why UF would support them in the league.
Doesn't make financial sense for the league. It only helps FSU. Adds nothing to UF. Too easy of a decision.
Besides, their fans are too candy arse for the SEC. Their melts to losing to GT type schools are lame.

It's a paradigm you can't comprehend right now

Mississippi and Alabama have to share two programs each
You also have the benefit of not having to play FSU every year on top of a brutal SEC schedule.

No school from a state we already have a presence in would add enough revenue to justify splitting the pie more ways. That's why it won't happen.

FSU fans and admin don't want to be in the SEC. They've talked shite about the SEC for too long. They'll go down with the ship before they join the SEC. Not that they would be allowed to join anyways.

Though I do think that's an interesting point, and I wonder if Kentucky, SCar, UGA, and UF fans ever feel it's unfair and need to compare schedules

I'm agreeing with you. Basically frick FSU because it doesn't help the SECN contract and because frick FSU altogether. I'd never support helping them financially. Not that it matters but just sayin'. Frick FSU.

You know, in our fantasy world where we can be king and make cool shite happen.
That is why Aggies are white knighting the exclusivity gentleman's agreement. Our fantasy world is a place where our biggest recruiting rivals (OU and Texas) are locked into a second tier conference. We are living that fantasy.
The last thing we will sign up for is something that fricks our fantasy up. Someone like FSU or Clemson opens the door for a Texas or Baylor, so frick FSU in the arse.
Plus there is the whole point that eventually the SEC gets too top heavy if we play only in fantasy mode. Clemson and FSU means mores losses across the board, which means bye bye SEC in the playoffs.
Someone like a NC State is probably another USC- good some years and a win the other years. That is a much safer play for the SEC going forward both on the money and on competitive balance.

Nor have you.
As an Aggie I have more perspective on it than any of you. There are positive and negatives to both of it. Being the only SEC team in your state, especially when you have a large state that everyone is trying to get a piece of, is a valuable asset. Being able to leverage SEC dominance against your in-state rivals is fun.
