Look at the creative accounting re: the Permanent University Fund your school's marketing department does to insinuate your endowment is larger than UT's. It isn't. Not by a mile.
There's zero "creative accounting."
No such insinuation has been made.
UTex has more of the PUF; but we both have a shitload.
In statistics/research we talk about a saturation point--that moment when additional findings may quantitatively increase the result; but not at significant levels.
That's kind of like the money situations at both schools: UTex may have more; but both schools have so much, the bottom line is moot.

This has nothing to do with "manning up."
it has everything to do with someone being the man, putting pride aside, and doing what's best for the fans/alumni of both schools, and college football fans in general.
the fact that both schools' admins are so upset over this is ridiculous... we get it, the two schools don't care for each other... move on!

Yes, the DiNardo/Hallman brain trust was terrified of A&M. I guess we'll have to own up to that.
Then again, running away wasn't a huge deal because we don't have a rivalry with you. Your football program is nearly defined by its rivalry with Texas. You sing songs, have nicknames, throw gang signs, etc.
Running away from a historic rival, and killing part of what makes CFB special is just...sad. And what's worse, it's cowardly.

No skin off my nose.
It's semi-interesting reading insightful "you're pussies" comments.
I'm learning much about some of our new neighbors.

40 years.
When we get to year 40 of not playing, give us a call.

In my opinion, A&M has always been seen as Texas's alternative or little brother or the other big school in Texas.
By moving to the SEC we have destroyed that link. We are no longer defined or defining ourselves by Texas.
Playing them every year would recreate a link we are all glad to finally have severed.
This isn't about being scared of Texas, its about not giving up what we can do for ourselves without them.
This is exactly why our leadership doesn't want to play them.

btw, the only people losing in this whole mess are the fans... not the admins who are making six and seven figures... it's the people who are missing out on one of the best traditions in college football and sports in general.
the greatest player in A&M history will never face off against Texas... that's sad to me... no matter who's to blame.

Permanent University Fund
Most people outside the state don't know what the PUF is and the politics that go with it.
It was created years ago in the "oil boom" days of Texas. The Texas Legislature (mostly sips at that time) divided the oil money 2/3 for sips and 1/3 for the Aggies. At the time A&M was a much smaller all male, military school and it wasn't a big deal.
Today the schools are neck and neck in enrollment and the Aggies control the Governorship and the Legislature.
They could bring up the issue to fairly split the money but now there are other state schools ie Tech, Houston and all of the smaller tu's and A&M's. And they all want a piece of the pie.
As we say in Texas, don't kick a fire ant bed.
Our Former Student base is growing quickly and there are some rich Aggies out there. (fewer drama, womens studies etc majors at A&M. Aggies are Engineer's, Petroleum, Geology, Business majors and there is not such a big demand for General Studies and Womens Studies majors that sip u produces)
The PUF is not producing as much as it used to, with all of the foreign oil. Therefore the PUF is not such a big deal anymore.

You really think they want to face JFF? Who is scared?

With all due respect, frick that.
We tried to make it work for decades & stuck it out in a miserable conference w them--all for the sake of tradition.
All measures were exhausted, including Trying to keep the series going.
We've made the effort--not them.
Again, where was the feigned outrage when they refused to play?

One school wants to schedule a game, one school doesn't.
It appears obvious to me who is scared.

LINK????
None of the news articles ever said that the sips wanted to schedule the game. We just said we don't want it. That's all. They don't want it either.
