In all honesty I think if Texas were to join the PAC-12
Because of the Longhorn Network, Texas can no longer join the Pac 12.
If A&M ejects, Texas will become an independent.

That's true. I am not sure what I was thinking. My point of expansion to the west still stands.
My mistake.

Texas A&M Board of Regents will meet on Thursday to discuss a possible move to the SEC.
Hopefully, that will be a conference win instead of just a OOC win.

Sounds like A&M would be wise to move, then.
As an independent, Texas would likely still schedule A&M every year, keeping their fight song and all of the rest of their traditions intact.

Va Tech anybody???
Sure seems like the only logical choice. It would be a good fit. I like the geographical balance plus you get the large Virginia market. Still don't know what a Hokie is and their colors are weird. However, they would benefit greatly from being int he SEC, I think.

yeah well, you and thinking obviously does not go hand in hand. Are you even a fan of any SEC team or are you just here to talk dumb?

A&M and Va Tech/UNC
Send Auburn to the east and take away opposite division game. This I can see happening.

I'll take some criticism. I made a mistake. Not sure what I was thinking.

aTm is not going anywhere. ESPN has sunk a ton of money into the Texas network, they will send some suits down to appease the board. They stand to loose to much money if the Big 12 fails.

Didn the Virginia State house try pretty hard to get Va Tech in the ACC to keep them with UVA.
And I think I remember hearing something about the state won't allow UVA and Va Tech to split. Is that True?

aTm to the SEC would be great for the SEC and great for aTm.
The SEC gets:
1. Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and the rest of th nation's 2nd most populous state. We get aTm fans watching, plus UT fans watching to cheer against aTm.
2. a high end academic institution that shares a border with 2 current SEC states
3. a strong athletic team which competes at a high level most years in nearly all sports and has great facilities
4. more access to Texas recruits for the other SEC schools
5. a natural rivalry for 2 SEC schools (LSU and Arky)
6. More money. (Once aTm and another school join we can renegotiate our contract and surely receive more money given the added market size and record contracts given to conferences of lesser appeal than the SEC)
aTm gets:
1. an immediate boost in exposure, prestige, credibility, recruiting, and fan support
2. the ability to separate itself from a UT program that is about to dominate the Big 12 financially
3. the ability to offer something to a recruit that UT can't give them
4. the opportunity to be a part of a very balanced conference (as opposed to an OU/UT dominated Big 12). Competition is tough, but almost anyone can succeed (see 5 different teams having won BCS titles, 6 different teams having won the conference since expansion, and 9 of 12 teams having played in the SEC title game at least once).

Won't happen. Can't keep break of the the Iron Bowl or The Third Saturday in October (Tennessee). That's unless the SEC goes back to the two permanent opponents from opposite division.

Or they are set to gain a killing if the Big 12 falls and UT goes independent with an ESPN exclusive package like ND has with NBC.

@IBG - I have heard that. It is absolutely true that UVA went to bat to get VT into the ACC. Whether they would keep them from moving on, I don't know. I have heard scuttle but noting definitive that I can remember. Speculation only.
