Yeah but what about hanging out in Dallas? Not sure I can vouch that that's a great destination for New Year's.

this is the fball equivalent of "would you rather make the NCAA tournament and lse in the first round, or win the NIT?"
nobody cares or remembers who wins the fricking NIT

It is a little different. A&M could be left out, beat Miami and finish the year 9-1 and in the top 3. That’s pretty memorable.

A putt left short is a stroke lost.

#3 but not make the playoffs? That would suck.

I want TAMU vs Ok, Ok St, or some such in the Cotton Bowl...
Don't ask me why..

quote:That's the normal plan, but SEC has deviated from the bowl order when it suits the conference, and there has been some public discussion about minimizing travel for bowl games. I really expect Florida to be the SEC rep in the Orange Bowl, even if A&M is ranked higher.
Orange gets the highest ranked team after the SEC winner gets into the CFP.
It's playoffs or bust (Cotton Bowl against some Big XII chump) for A&M.
And to answer the OP's question, I'd take the playoff every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Would it suck? Sure. You want the opportunity to play for the title.
But #3 would be a strong year, exceed expectations, and be something to build on. Jimbo ain’t going anywhere.

It would also ruin the talking point chart.
