I don't have a dog in this fight, but I just wanted to let you know that this thread is really pathetic. Even for the off-season.

Yes...it is easier to get higher sack numbers in the AFC North than in the NFC East...great point.

One of them is on the same line as Fletcher Cox and the other plays for the Browns.

no one was. The Eagles' lone sack was the fumble Barnett recovered iirc.

1 sack, yes, but he got hit early.

Bradham, Graham, Jernigan, Cox, & Long all recorded 1-2 QB hits each. Graham had the lone sack.

Ipso facto, it's tougher to win the SB than SEC East.

Even with Barnett having 3 extra games, Garrett had more sacks.

Well Garrett played more snaps and it's not like they were worlds apart.

Garrett: 19 tackles, 7 sacks, 1 pass defended, 1 forced fumble - 520 snaps (48.5% of defensive snaps)

*Barnett - 19 tackles, 5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumbles recovered, 1 TD - 424 defensive snaps (41.4%) - includes playoffs but not Super Bowl snap count yet

I did all of Barnett's snaps (save for the Super Bowl) but didn't include his playoff stats according to pro football reference to make the point that they were that close.

Barnett's playoff stats = 2 tackles, 1 sack, 1 Forced fumble, 1 Fumble recovered (including the Super Bowl)

So the Eagles only played him in obvious passing situations so he'd be in the best situation to succeed while Garrett is an every down player?

hmmm... sounds like one would be more valuable than the other.

If only Garrett had been an inferior player so he could have fallen in the draft and landed on a good team. He's a bum.

Or maybe the Eagles had a number of established and well paid players, like say Chris Long, Brandon Graham, and Vinny Curry at DE? It's almost like the Eagles had about 17-18 million tied up in DEs besides Derek Barnett for 2017.

And Barnett plays on a line with Fletcher Cox. Who do you think gets the double team?

Garrett gets the double team on his team.

I like Barnett, but Garrett is the better player with the higher ceiling...and the much larger bank account.

Garrett would play over those guys. Barnett doesn't. It is as simple as that.

yeah I remember that time where a rookie DE was picked up by a crap team and single-handedly led his team to the playoffs/super bowl.

They have become like LSU fans claiming their victories based on what former players do in the NFL. Some of us actually care more about what those guys do in college.

Nope...Barnett had 6 sacks if you include the NFC Championship game (as referenced below).
