A player can be NCAA eligible but not SEC eligible

This has been happening for decades.
Even if a player meets NCAA GPA requirements, a school can have their own higher standards and reject a player. Even if a player follows NCAA transfer rules, a conference can have their own more restrictive rules (ie intra conference transfers) and ban a player from conference rosters.
If the SEC wanted, they could say players with medical waivers are not eligible to play (aka Chambliss) but they haven’t. They did say players who signed an NFL contract are ineligible, and this is independent of any NCAA rule. The NCAA could grant all 2022 players an extra year tomorrow, and the SEC rule would still prevent LSU from signing them.
Somehow this distinction eludes the mental faculties of LSU fans.

That’s a hard case for the SEC given that the league has never overruled the NCAA on player eligibility. The SEC would be discriminating against players who would be available to play at any NCAA school if granted the injunction.

Can you read? Every time the sec banned an intra conference transfer, they were imposing a rule that was more restrictive than the NCAA. The NCAA only maintains base eligibility authority. They never tell conferences or schools who they have to accept.
