Do any Mississippi people know what building the SEC HQ was in when they were located in Jackson, MS

More exposure and easier to get to from every major city.
SEC Title game is held there along with many men's and women's basketball tournaments.

Which is clearly why it was founded there.

I'll give you the exposure.
Easier to get to? No, not really. Birmingham is just as accessible as Atlanta.

So? The baseball tournament is located here, in Hoover.

I'm sure ESPN and NYC like layovers when flying from the NE to BHM.

ESPN has offices in Birmingham. I know someone that works there.
There are MULTIPLE flights from ATL to BHM daily. You're acting like Birmingham is in the middle of bum-frick nowhere, when that clearly isn't the case.
Also, you never fully explained your "yikes" comment.

i take it you haven't flown much

Please list direct flights to Bham and Atl from the 30 major cities. Making yourself as accessible as possible should be the goal. Keeping offices in Bham instead of Atlanta isn't meeting this goal.

Ricky means direct flights from ESPN HQ. I doubt there would be any directly from CT to BHAM.
