while i might normally agree, our defense was seriously that bad. obviously getting a good D line was more important than a RB, especially if we want to be in the running for the west.

Auburn sucked last year?
we lost five games didn't we? my question is..which "difference maker" used his scholarship spot?

we didn't really need him.
So did you not watch your team last year? A little bit of a run game would really open your already good offense up...

We'll see... 12 regular seasons wins in 24 games is a pretty rough two year stretch... Dyer will definitely be in the mix early.
Kodi and Ziemba are solid players, but certainly haven't lived up to the billing thus far in their careers... if dyer flops, Auburn should swear off Arkansas for a while.

hold up, brah... just some freindly advice. I guess you're still a little soar over it... I can understand that.
No, this post was intended to shed some additional light on Dyer's recruitment as Petrino made his comments last night at a Razorback meeting in Tulsa. This is the FIRST I've heard any of our coaches publicly state our RB recruiting strategy last year. Every RB we recruited, except Dyer, had to have the ability to play defense where I’m sure they will all end up. We don’t need any RB next year or really for 2 years.
What I don't like is from poster to make smart arse comment about new information/news. Here's a little friendly advice. If a title has “the recruitment of Dyer in it” there is damn good chance the post will be about Dyer. If you are tired of Dyer posts then don't open the thread and post on it.

Our RBs are fine, it's the O line that was the problem. Can't run block.
We're loaded at RB.

I suppose we will all see in due time, won't we?

more of an OL issue than anything...New OL coach coming in and going to zone blocking...
This should help a ton IMO

hold the phone.......I've heard all kinds of BS about Arkansas fans picking at Nutt for taking an athlete out of his natural position.
man.....you guys are a trip.

It's not too hard to understand Pank...Nutt missed on all but one of these types of players. We've yet to see this out of Petrino..Yet I say

Exactly the point I was trying to make..

All of the defensive players we recruited last have a better chance of contributing in the next two years, either on defense, special teams or both, than Dyer would have at RB had he signed with the Hogs. It would be the same way if we signed a 5 star QB. We did offer a few and would have taken one if we could have gotten him but we didn’t need a QB and it would just be a waste of a scholarship. We did sign one QB last year but he can also play defense. Imagine that.
I’m not saying that Dyer isn't good but had he signed with the Hogs, he just wasn’t going to garner any of the carries, or very few of the carries, from Wingo, Davis, Johnson, and Green over the next two years.
Damn, what is so hard to understand about that?

All we've been hearing before/during/after Dyer's committment was how deep arkansas was RB and how Dyer wasn't a top priority... basically your coaching staff stated the obvious.
The article was nothing new... it's just gonna start a pissing contest between AU/Ark/Ole Miss fans.
By all means, piss away.

Had little to do with who we had at RB. That's why Petrino hired Chris Klenakis. I think you will see a much improved Hogs running attack this year.

I don't think Dyer will flop but I just don't think he is as good as advertised in spite of his high rating. Not sour grapes but I really changed my opinion of his abilities when I found out that he was actually 19 years old playing in a small classification. Hell, that’s the same age as Ronnie Wingo and a full year older than Knile Davis. I'm sure both Wingo and Davis would have torn up the 5 Southwest as well (Arkansas has 7 classes of schools) where small DL, LB, and DB are more common than not, but they were busy trying to run and block against SEC defenses.

Fans suspected it but it's the first I've heard Petrino talk about it publically. But by all means, post on Dyer thread and piss away yourself.
