Shumlin was to drunk to respond last night. Hung over this morning. REPORTED BY POOL BOY. It will take him a while to get right.

Didn't Moorehead leave VT just last year for the same role? Talk about being committed...

Have the Aggie coaches signed some special honor code where they refuse to solicit/recruit/offer players who are committed to other schools?

No. Pretty weird question.
How so? Seems like a pretty fair question. If A&M coaching staff is so concerned with commitment, why on earth would they try and sway a kid's mind who's already committed elsewhere? Why would you want a kid so weak that he would flip flop and waffle from a prior commitment when clearly they aren't #texasstrong?
Ultimately, the concept of "commitment" in college football might be the only thing closer to toilet paper than an NFL contract that doesn't have guaranteed dollars. Schools put out 30-50 "offers" to kids when they have significantly less available slots to fill. I have no issues with this when you inform the kid that their offer is only committable until you have X number at a certain position or that there are guys ahead of them, but when you have kids who have their offer pulled weeks or days before signing day, clearly there is a level of transparency that isn't being met. Couple that with the fact that a coach can leave at any point they want for a better job and get the school they're going to to cover the fines in almost every case, yet an athlete on scholarship does not have that ability. Even if we ignore kids that are on campus, how about the ones that sign a LOI and then key coaches for the kid leave before the season even starts.
Nothing about a kid that decommits before Jan/Feb should be surprising. It's not a matter of loyalty, simply the same decision process that a coach might go through when evaluating potential offers. It's better they decommit now than wait until you've spent an entire senior year recruiting them, getting them on campus, and then they leave you at the altar at the end of the season leaving you to scramble.
I don't have a big issue with the WR Coach's *thoughts*, but putting them out in public had literally no positive value... #keepthatshittoyoself

Coaches don't make commitments they make offers.

Verbal commitments are non-binding and mean nothing. Coaches rescind offers as well. Recruiting is ugly for the top 300-400 kids.

everyone has decommits, but the aggie coach pissed off several other top recruits looking at aTm

Look I'll be the first to admit some of these kids shouldn't commit if they plan on looking elsewhere. But regarding your comment, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Not to mention coaches come and go so a commitment somewhere is fluid. JMO.

Fairness is an imaginary concept. It doesn't apply to football and it doesn't apply to life. All that matters is leverage, how much you do or do not have.
If any coaching staff ever made some sort of "honor code" about their offers it wouldn't signal moral strength, it would signal a lack of leverage. Kids pick up on that kind of beta shite and it wouldnt work in the favor of the program. Practically it's a nonstarter, as is the concept that commitments from recruits will mean more than they do in the current system.

The problem A&M has is much deeper than one coach popping off on Twitter and costing his team some serious talent with recruits. Following the Manziel era, Aggie Nation/ Sumlin adopted this swag mentality in an attempt to keep the school relevant and "cool." DJs at practice, #WRTS, etc.
It has, of course, completely backfired- multiple transfers/ decommits, zero accountability for both players and staff, bizarre social media gaffs, it goes on and on. There are no bright skies in A&M's future. They built a giant stadium on the success of one season and signed a coach to a lucrative, locked-in contract for the same reason.
Now their fans beat their chests with the same tired excuses for all the recent failings on the recruiting trail- not big enough for SECSEC football, didn't want him anyway, at least we won more games than the whorns, etc.
It's all loser talk- they sold their souls to the devil and are now paying the price.

When you look at their depth chart for 2017, they are in serious trouble. The only thing that will carry them to 7-8 wins next year is defensive talent. I don't see how Sumlin has a job after 2017. I also don't know his contract situation, but I'd think cutting ties sooner than later would benefit them.

Actually we are getting paid well for our soul and will be paid well for years. The SEC Network is huge, and the SEC has plenty of bowl and national championship money to go around. We are doing better than any Big 12 team not named Texas or Kansas- IE better than we would have done otherwise. We got plenty to pay the mortgage and Sumlin. We had the highest revenue in football last year!

Nice. I see you've adopted the "if our peers are good then we are good" approach to college football. You should just get it over with and change the A&M brand to SEC.
I'll give you a moment to look up the word "obfuscation."
