Proves that the Big 12 kept the Big 8 together for another 15 years instead of Texas destroying your conference.
In the early 90's everyone was looking elsewhere
The Big 12 was a finger in a hole.
It was never going to be sustainable.

TEXAS was merely a convenient boogeyman to provide cover for desires that already existed (except Nebraska, we fricked them over on the field and the boardroom so much that they had to leave or die).

Nebraska is another program that has an inflated ego.
But their greatest coach is a coward. If Tom Osborne had any balls he would have stayed in Lincoln.
But he bowed out.
Nebraska leaving the Big XII is their own doing
They were behind budget and they felt like the B1G was a better conference to compete in.
The creation of the B1G West was by Nebraska.
But they still can't win that division and have won 8 games the last two years.

Missouri wants Big 10 but isn't wanted
That is a bit of a misnomer...
The camp led by Gee wanted Nebraska to get the B1G to 12, KU and MU to get to 14, and ND + ?? to get to 16.
The opposing camp wanted to go east quicker to try and lock down Notre Dame with Maryland and some Big East or ACC schools
Opposing camp carried the day and so far Rutgers has not been a money machine and the Irish have gone deeper to eventual ACC full membership.

I'll take the word of ESPN's Big Ten beat writer over yours, thanks.

Research Rutgers and Research Money
The B1G brought in Rutgers because of medical research.
Like they want Texas because of the research being done in Austin with micro engineering.
Research money grows the economy.
The issue with the B1G is that their local economies are dying.
More research money= growth.
Commerical and Residential Real Estate and Development.

Missouri wants the B1G but I think it was a good thing for Missouri
The B1G network is a Ponzi scheme.
The B1G network already controls St Louis and into Missouri.
The B1G could bring in Kansas and lock down KC without Missouri.

I am well aware but sports are not academics. I know the B1G makes a big deal about it but adding Nebraska then leading the vote to drop their AAU tells me what it is really about.
With the Cornhuskers they could claim another brand but they are doing what they can to kill it now they have it.
With the Scarlet Knights they can claim they started football now (which they have in some literature) but they will not help that brand grow.
What they really got was a hold into east coast recruiting for OSU and UM which was important with a dying midwest and more competition from the southeast and southwest where the future growth will come from. If it was all about research they would have invited a Nerdy Nine school.
If you have a school in your conference doing 300 to 600 million in annual research that is good enough to make college presidents happy and the ACC + B1G + PAC + SEC have enough schools to make any solid for research and academics. While the B1G pimps the CIC they are still not the IVY and the IVY's are doing fine without a CIC. In fact UC was discussing behind closed doors about dropping out of the CIC because they did not want to have to take some of the lesser B1G students with open arms. As for Texas, keep that ego in check as it was Stanford who blackballed you last time for your lesser research.
While Utx is clearly a research engine they are still not at the top where the other apex research folks think they are equal. Kinda reminds me of the old Starkist commercials where Utx = Charlie.

Pretty funny as I would take the words directly out of Gee's mouth to a beat reporters anyway. But you keep licking that window and think you know more than the guys making the moves because some beat reporter pablum fed you what you wanted to hear.

Which is why I exited out of this thread. A waste of time with these bevo buttheads.

Do you really think they are Bevo's or LSU alters trolling TAMU?

Smart Post and Montgomery Hill are the same person, and are Randolph Duke alters. He has other alters: Aleblanc is another one.
Notice how at least two of them always show up together.

What’s funny is that our broke little brother Horn will never let us go. They were turned down by the pac 12, the big 10, and the ACC and they are consumed with jealousy over us being invited to the SEC
