Perfect Game

So we are behind 3 teams whom we either lead or are tied with in the conference standings and RPI over halfway through the conference slate?

Movement in baseball polls is a joke. Nice to be “considered” but all I care about is the committee and getting to a Regional.

The only team slightly ahead of LSU in the polls who lost a series this week was Oregon. D1 basically slid in A&M to their spot, more or less, and probably deservedly so with who they just beat and how they've been playing lately. Arkansas and Oklahoma St were the only other two teams ranked ahead of LSU who lost series, but they started out the week in the top 5. If LSU takes care of business and beats UGA 2/3 at home, I think you'll see them creep closer to the top 15. At that point, they'd be 12-9 SEC and around 30-12 overall with an RPI well inside the top 15 (they're 18 now). With UGA being #5 in the RPI now, that would be a huge series win for LSU. Kinda nuts, a lot of us felt like LSU was dead in the water, yet they've put themselves into position to still be in play for a host site in the NCAAT. Arkansas and UT are prob locks to host, and I think 6 teams are playing for probably 3 more host spots the SEC will get. Should be a fun last month of the season.

Gratz on the series win. Was impressed with your pitchers. Not so much with ours.

We don't have the bullpen depth yet, but the rotation we run with is pretty solid. Sunday is usually an adventure, as you saw. Great series, Hawgs! Every game was close, and it could have gone either way

Y'all don't have great depth or front-line talent, but they pitch smart. Texas A&M has the second fewest walks in the SEC and have the best flyout/ground out ratio in the SEC, which is also why they have allowed the fewest HRs in the SEC and how they've managed to have a decent team ERA. Schloss has done a masterful job of getting the most out of his pitching staff, despite not really having the horses to dominate now. He signed 15 guys from the portal. If he can recruit well, A&M is going to be very good soon.

I've been saying this since they took 2/3 from LSU. Our fans were ready to jump off a bridge based on who A&M had been recently, but it was clear to me that the team was still figuring things out and were very well-coached. Flash forward and they're 2 games out of 1st in the West and probably a 2 seed right now in the NCAAT. Funny how that works out.

I honestly think A&M has the best coaching staff from hitting to pitching in college baseball. Look at what they have done with let's face it - a patchwork lineup. Schloss is looking like a homerun kind of hire, and I was infinitely wrong about him

Oh, and they can recruit too ;)

Very well said.

Dettmer is becoming that kind of dude (4 ER, 28 K over his last 4 starts in 25.1 innings), but after that it's pretty bare when it comes to high-end talent and stuff.

I agree, give Schloss credit, but Yeskie is a legit pitching coach too. He's from the Pat Casey tree.
