I have to wonder if teams will move away from the spread to protect QBs eventually.

The NFL drives that train, and the pros are moving more towards the spread, not away from it.

You might see some teams cater to niche offenses, but talented players will want to play in systems that give them the bast chance of playing on Sundays.

Bro.

You're the one relying on SP+ to convince yourself Alabama had a good defense last season.

Spoiler alert: They didn't.

I don't see how Alabama's LB corps can cheat to help out the secondary. They'd have to honor the ground threat from Clemson, and that is how Auburn and LSU showed how to beat Alabama.

Did you watch any Alabama games last year?

It's like you don't have a remote clue where Alabama was weak.

Why did LSU beat Alabama? Because they constantly abused Shane Lee with RB passes out of the backfield.

Their RB had 3 TDs and 103 yards rushing, and then another TD and 77 yards passing.

Chase had some good catches, put up some yards and caught a TD pass. And so did some others.

But that RB pass was there constantly when they needed it.

So I'm not even sure what you are talking about when it comes to Alabama needing help in the secondary.

It was the other way around. Alabama had trouble stopping the run and handling things out of the backfield. We were playing freshman at LB due to injuries.

And yet you keep telling people to go back and watch the games.

Alabama didn't have a defense that was up to Alabama standards. 4 freshman in the front 7 will do that.

But when you compare it to the rest of college football, it's another story.

That same SP+ says Georgia had the #1 defense. I guess that part is bullshite too right? Or is the #32 offense for Georgia that you think it's inaccurate? Because everyone knows Georgia was a powerhouse at offense last year right?

Lol.

Your defense can't even beat 2nd string QBs.

I should have clarified that the threat out of the backfield and not specifically the run.

I mean it wasn't like UAT's secondary was great at coming up and out stopping the run game either.

We are in total agreement with that.

Auburn, LSU, and UGA's defenses were all better than Alabama's defense.

Factor in other teams like Utah, Oregon, and Ohio State and I don't see how SP+ was effective metric for last season's defenses.

You baws better hope the new kid out of Cali is even allowed to leave the fricking state, or the REC might be begging Lil Tua back to Tuscaloosa.

Oh we talking about secondaries?

Let's look at the last 3 times Georgia's national championship hopes were crushed.

2 of those are the back up QBs.

Yes, this is totally a legit worry even though the kid was enrolled and in school 5 months ago and finished with a 4.0 GPA in his first semester.

SP+ had OSU number one ffs. Wisconsin was the 2nd best team in that conference, I'd like to any "expert" who could say that wouldn't have gotten rekt by Bama with a straight face

SP+ does not rank teams.

All you are doing is showing you don't understand the metric and then blaming the metric for your own ignorance.

Lose to Bama, LSU and Georgia. If they played Auburn at Auburn, that is another loss. They lose to Florida in the Swamp.

Bruh, Game 5 of last year's NLDS has totally replaced my pain from those Alabama games.

But keep on posting them. Being the best SEC team in the 205 area code last season is a hell of an accomplishment for Saban and that SP+ #3 defense.

Then ignore those if you want to, but those points still went up on the board.

They didnt go up on the board because of the defense though, which is what's being discussed here.

Alabama's D had several chances to close the door on Auburn and their True Freshman QB nicknamed Bo Pix in the Iron Bowl and didn't do it. Good defenses would have done that.

Bo "Pix" only threw 6 "pix" all season so its kind of a dumb nickname but I digress.

Alabama's defense played good enough to win that game, as for vs LSU, everyone gave up points to LSU except Auburn.

Even Georgia's defense would've likely given up 45 if they'd have had the offense to force LSU to score more.
