I think the top tier of the SEC is a bit of a crapshoot. Who's on a roll, who's got homefield etc... Clemson could've realistically lost 2 or 3 games, or with some luck possibly gone undefeated. LSU was clearly the best team last year, though.

Why?

Georgia fans dont bring it up when talking about their defense?

Thats cool.

You're a Clemson fan so you're somewhat biased.

Not sure what that has to do with your erroneous statement that Alabama doesnt have a decent defense though.

Would have lost to Bama with Tua. We know how the LSU game played out.

The same thing applies to UGA, so I am not sure why you are bringing it up.

And if you want to look at UGA and UAT's common opponents, UGA's defense clearly outperformed Alabama's D.

I never said Georgia's defense was worse than Alabama's, in fact I only said Alabama's was decent, which they were.

Alabama played four ranked teams last year counting their bowl game.

A shitty South Carolina team with a true freshman starting his second game put up 23 against Alabama.

Even TAMU put 28 up on Alabama. The only other P5 teams TAMU put up more points on were Arkansas, Mississippi State, and South Carolina.

You have to factor in Alabama's cupcake arse schedule if you want to talk about how "good" their defense was.

Alabama had the #3 defense in the SP+ last year, which does take into account "Alabama's cupcake as schedule".

Alabama also did a better job at stopping LSU than Clemson did defensively.

What killed Alabama against LSU were all the turnovers in the 1st half. Especially the stupid interception Tua threw with only 20 seconds left in the 1st half. LSU only managed 13 points the 2nd half.

Alabama gave up 28 to #24/#26 TAMU
Alabama gave up 46 to #2/#1 LSU
Alabama gave up 48 to #15/#14 Auburn
Alabama gave up 16 to #14/#18 Michigan

Holding Duke, NM St, Southern Miss, Western Carolina, and two SEC teams who fired their coaches to 10 points or less is just not impressive when you look at how they performed vs. quality competition.

And I need to go rewatch the Citrus Bowl to see if Alabama's D played well or if Harbaugh and their Ole Miss castaway QB just played like shite.

LSU took their foot off the gas in the 2nd half. You should go re-watch that game.

2nd. Tua would've been destroyed by their blitzes like in the 44-16 game

Everybody gave up alot of points to LSU except Auburn.

Transitive property and all but the supposed great defense of Ohio State gave up 27 to them.

Sure. LSU who had lost 8 games in a row, some of them at the last second, 3 of them being shut outs, decided to let their foot off the gas against Alabama.

fricking dumbass.

I think they finish 1-3. Some of those games are toss ups. They wouldn't have cruised to another undefeated reg season easily, however.

The ACC is a joke and Clemmy's been the biggest beneficiary of that. Beat up on cupcakes all year, go undefeated on a P5 conference and beat the only real competition you have all year when you're totally rested and injury free.

I've probably watched it more than the average LSU fan.

But hey, go ahead and tell me more about how Coach O is a terrible coach that nearly cost his team the win.

AU and Florida were tougher. Despite the score, the other 2 tested us more than Bama.

Bama was more of mental hurdle than anything else.

For all his emotion, O is pretty conservative by nature.

They definitely went conservative on the first couple of drives, getting out of the hurry up also contributed some.

They turned it on when they had to though.

I think CEH got the first down, but CEO should've gone for it on that 4th and short in Bama territory when it was 33-13, you can't count on a great offense like Bama to struggle all game. I guess it's his nature as a defensive coach, but he's been too conservative in some of those situations imo.
