He took 3 solid strides towards third and the SS was in the basepath. He interfered with the runner. It was the right call. Both announcers agreed. But you're right, it doesn't really matter. Bama is not helping themselves defensively. They can get back in it with a couple of swings epecially from Haynie

Announcers. There you go.

That was ridiculous. You do know that college umpires are coffee delivery guys during the day don't you?

I'll side with them over some rando on the internet saying otherwise. You're wrong. Would he have been out? Yes. But accordng to the rules, the SS was in the basepath as the runner took a couple of strides towards third. He had no option to not call it. It's fairly simple.

You should start a petition to get this game challenged after it's over.

Good for you. I wouldn't expect anything less. But don't accuse anyone of being a casual baseball fan while agreeing with one of the most flagrant abuses of rules interpretation that I have witnessed.

Again, doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. MSU is pretty damn good and I am a fan.

I was curious, so I looked it up. On a batted ball he would have likely been called out because you can't interfere with the fielder making a play on the ball. Intentional or not.

However for a thrown ball, as in this case, the interference must be determined to be intentional. Which it wasn't.

At least, that's how I understood it.

Wasn't accusing you of being a casual fan. Just stating that those guys know more about the game than you and I. One's an SEC legend and the other hs been coverin baseball for years. Ugly game so far. Been a ton of errors from a bunch of teams.

The way it is called is the fielder gets the opportunity to catch the ball and the runner can not interfere. Unless the fielder is holding the ball, the runner gets the base path. Easy call and the correct call.

That loosely lines up with how I interpreted it, so I'll chalk that up as a win

You haven't done anything to prove your argument other than call others stupid and say you know more than SEC Baseball analysts.

You're just coming across salty right now.

Baseball would be much better if there was tackling involved, in some manner.

Just look up MLB brawls, they normally go good with some tackling
