State rightly got to #1 due to a confluence of events. Beating 3 consecutive (at the time) top 10 teams while most everyone else lost a game, except for FSU (which was barely scraping by bad to mediocre ACC teams).

I understand why they did it, but everyone also knew it was only because of that, not because anyone really thought Miss St was the best team.

To me, it just highlights what's wrong with voters.

Nothing was wrong with the voters.
We were undefeated at the time and rightfully ranked #1 at the time.
Had Alabama been 9-0 at the time they would have been ranked #1.
Simple as that.
Twenty-Twenty eyesight is always perfect when you are looking back on events.

Speaking of Alabama titles, Alabama would go on to win one that year.

Honestly, I assumed you guys waited at least a decade before deciding to claim someone else’s National Championship.

First, I think most Alabama fans at this point don't give a shite about rankings at the start of November. Thus, there would likely be no melting.

Yea.. that’s a damn lie.

And while that was a good Miss St team, especially by Miss St standards/history, it was obvious you weren't #1 good.

Ok. Go back to the week the first rankings came out, use no knowledge afterwards, and make an argument for someone else. It’s obvious… so this should be easy pleasy.

#2 Auburn, #6 Texas A&M and #8 LSU all finished unranked with 8-5 seasons.

Which was obvious the week of the initial rankings how?

Of course you balked on this one. Hey.. you’re worried about obvious incorrect rankings.. you sure you don’t wanna go fix some of Alabama’s fraud titles? Why not??

Hell UA claims 1941 and Mississippi State beat AL and finished with a better SEC record than UA. And MSU never claimed 1941.

True. We won 10 games and lost 2 for the season. We also played in the Orange Bowl without a DC.

I'm sure some do, but most people realize the rankings don't mean shite until the regular season is over.

If you want to make the argument, then make it. I'm not doing your homework. Alabama for starters was obviously better. Along with a list of other 1 loss teams.

From watching the games and just knowing the team in general. Are you trying to claim it was an upset when Alabama beat Miss St?

Because it wasn't.

State should claim a NC for 1940.

MSU got to the Orange Bowl. Let's see where UT goes.

So let me get this straight.

With what was known the week of the first rankings….. Alabama should have been #1? Who lost their only ranked matchup at the time of the ranking?

MSU shouldn’t have been ranked in the initial 4?

Go ahead… do the homework.

But… yet… here you are. Making “they shouldn’t have been ranked where they were then” arguments.

Hooker gone and whatever frick is going with their LB, it’s a completely different team now. That team is gonna be lucky to pull it together for the rest of their games.

At least through 2018. We were loaded that year and had he stayed, we would have had a decent shot at winning 10+ games that year.

I didn't say Alabama should have been #1, I said Alabama was obviously better than Miss St. And it wasn't just Alabama either, multiple teams.

Vegas knew it.

Advanced stats knew it.

Miss St fans knew it.

I'm not sure why you are getting butt hurt over it really. You got over-ranked, congrats. Nothing to be upset about because someone mentions you were obviously over-ranked.

I didn't make the topic, just stated the obvious.

3 teams that finished the season 8-5 and unranked.

Just because they were also over-rated when you played them doesn't mean they were actually that difficult. They were 8-5 teams, all 3 of them.

Miss St beat 0 teams that were ranked at the end of the year, and lost to every final ranked team they played.

That wasn’t the 2014 MSU team. That team had 10 regular season wins and played in the Orange bowl.

MSu finished 10-3 after losing to playoff Alabama, NY6 Ole Miss and to GT in a NY6 bowl.

Vols probably about to lose to Vandy and then to a shite B1G team in a bowl game for 9-4.
