I do agree with this here!! After I saw Sark put Arch in for Ewers for a couple of series, I thought I wish DeBoer had the balls to do that.

That's all I'm saying.

I'll take my chances with a backup right now. Hell, at least pull Milroe for a series or two so he can calm down and gain perspective. I hope you do know there's a rumor that Milroe is injured. If that's true that's even more reason to sit Milroe. If he's truly injured he's clearly hurting the team right now.

I get that fans think that, but I tend to trust what the coaches see in practice over fan opinions. Even coaches I don't think are that great.

I remember when the fans at UF were pushing hard for Anthony Richardson to start and Mullen kept saying he didn't know enough of the playbook and wasn't ready, instead sticking with Emory Jones.

Mullen eventually caved in to the fan pressure and started Richardson. The result? 12-20 for 82 yards. 0 TD, 2 INT. 12 rushes for 26 yards.

Jones came in to relieve him and went 10-14 for 112 yards, no TD's or INT's and ran 5 times for 22 yards and a TD.

There's a reason why neither Nick Saban nor Kalen Deboer replaced Milroe with Ty Simpson. It's the same reason why Mullen didn't replace Emory Jones with Anthony Richardson. The backup simply is worse right now.

Bama has run offenses for a while now that focus on 1-2 key targets in the passing game rather than spreading it around.

Not really. EVen when Devonta Smith went crazy in 2020, Metchie still finished with just shy of 1000 yards and Waddle had almost 600 in 5 games and a quarter. In 2022-2023, no one single receiver had a bunch of yards. In 2021, Alabama had 2x 1000 yard guys.

Saban benched Milroe against USF last year. Neither Tyler Buchanon nor Ty SImpson looked any better than Milroe, and they barely beat a bad USF team.

I want you to read this.

quote:

After Alabama took its second loss of the season Saturday, an attempt is being made this week to tighten up the ship.

Tight end CJ Dippre said there is an emphasis on, "just tak[ing] pride in the small things," and elaborated on what that means around the facility.

"We got to just kind of take details and the small things," the senior said Tuesday. "Don't get bored with the basics. Get back to what we're supposed to wear -- shirts tucked in, five minutes, 10 minutes early to meetings. Not all this late stuff. Not doing what you want to do.

"Just little things like that carry over to the football field. Because then if you take one wrong step, one wrong thing, it just all carries over. So you got to act everything, all throughout the day. Going to class on time. Everything is like would want to do on the football field."

Alabama has been sliding on the field since the second quarter of the Georgia game Sept. 28, and has lost two games before November for the first time since 2007. Alabama has the seventh-most penalty yards per game (78.3) of any FBS team.

"[Coach Kalen DeBoer] knows that we have to do better," wide receiver Germie Bernard said Tuesday. "He's just gonna continue to instill in us the things that we need to do to be better, and to be better in practice. Be better off the field. Be more disciplined with the things we need off the field, like just making sure we're checking in on time, making sure we're getting to meetings on time. Things like that. With the mindset that he has, our team -- we still have everything in front of us that we want. I think we will accomplish that."

Bernard provided some more examples of what those "small things" are that Dippre mentioned. "Just be more disciplined in practice," Bernard said. "Hone in on the small details within the playbook. Word hard, executing. The off the field work, just continuing to lift hard, continue to recover right, continue to hydrate right. Continue to put the right things in your body with nutrition. When he talks about those things, those are the key components that we have to hone in on to be better."

That is from here LINK

DeBoer hasn't been on the job a year and the culture is out of control within the program. He's not the guy for the job. Bama will have to pay a large buyout at some time or another when they fire DeBoer because it's clear he's incompetent for the SEC.

Last season? Ty has always looked better than Milroe. Ty was setup for failure against South Florida. We have around 20 games of proof Milroe isn't the guy.

Have you seen us play South Florida in back to back seasons? We aren't all that!

Furthermore, the rumor has been since last season the OL refused to block for Ty in the South Florida game and Saban caved to the team desire of wanting Milroe as the starter. That rumor is still present with us and many speculate this was part of the reason Saban retired.

I know Alabama isn't all that, but that doesn't mean Ty Simpson is either

It's not a convenient rumor. It's a rumor that's more than a year old.

sounds like a bunch of message board fodder to rationalize why Alabama looked so bad against USF, just saying

We heard the same bullshite when Rohan Davey and Josh Booty were competing for the starting job

Go back and watch the game and watch the blocking.

so because Alabama played a bad football game, the only logical conclusion was there was a team mutiny over the Milroe getting benched. Or maybe, hear me out, Buchanon and Simpson weren't any better than Milroe.

In 2020, Bama had two WR's with 172 combined catches. After that came WR's and TE's with 28, 24 and 23.

That is still a top heavy passing attack focused on 2 guys over the rest. 324 completions with 53% of them going to the top 2 guys.

UGA last year as a comparison for catches by non-RB's... 56, 54, 34, 30, 29, 24, 23. Their top 2 guys had 33% of their 328 pass completions. Their top 4 pass catchers accounted for the same 53% that Bama's top 2 in 2020 did.

This is a difference. You can be successful either way. But Bama has under Saban (and so far under Deboer) focused on feeding their top WR's as opposed to spreading the ball around.

I’d tell you to quit acting like a moron but that doesn’t seem possible at this juncture.

And all the players apparently want to lose and not have a QB that gives them the best chance to showcase their skills apparently.

Bowers also missed 1/3 of your games and McConkey missed 6 (and barely played against Kentucky). Had they stayed healthy all season, I think those percentages look a lot different for UGA last season
