So, let's summarize. Arkansas has prolific running attack.. best in SEC it sounds like. Arkansas also has no problem tossing the pigskin.
Not really sure how Rutgers beat a team with an unstoppable offense.
Something not adding up.

We won 4 last year
Same thing, I know, but still...

The hogs won three games last year. It looks like that is going to be the case this year too.
I feel your pain, we've never been the worst team in the SEC, so I can't relate exactly, but we've been very close.
TN fan?
Have you missed the last couple weeks or years of football?

the more interesting question is how many passing yards do that need to win?.... derby's gotta be efficient for them to have a shot. If ark can pass the 200 yard passing mark, they'll have a chance.

Damn good answer. Seriously. If Arkansas starts bumping up close to 300 on the ground we better not be making mistakes.

I'm the board pessimist but I would be surprised if we broke 200 yards rushing with Derby at QB. A&M will be able to stack the box unlike against Bama because we have no threat of a vertical attack with him in the game.

ChesireHog, Don't know what your background is but I have seen some of your other posts and it is quite obvious you know a hell of a lot about football.
I actually haven't seen the Hogs play. Was driving last Saturday and listened to the game on Sirius radio and it was a Rutgers broadast. Kind of hard to tell how effective the passing game was since I couldn't see what was actually going on.

The trouble for Arkansas is that Baggs isn't lining up to play linebacker and Clay Honeycutt isn't lining up to play safety. Those guys are an absolute waste of space. If you see a small white guy in at Safety for the aggies, rest easy because a TD is coming soon.

Depends on how well Derpy's throwing it
Going from facing a top 25 defense to a bottom 25 defense may be the edge needed for Derby.

Rutgers was selling out to stop the run, they also have a very fast defense, and to top it off when we actually had chances to make them pay for the aggressiveness on D through the air, Derby either missed the target or the receivers drop the ball.
Rutgers was begging for a big play to be dropped on them during the game, but it never happened.

A&M has the ability to score quickly and at the end of the game when the game is on the line rushing the ball isn't going to work. Without a passing attack A&M by 14

This is normally something you hope the other team has.

We shall see, if Deby goes all Derpy early, we may see Austin Allen come in who can gives us the passing game we need.
He is just behind the other two in experience, controlling the huddle, making LOS checks, etc, but he is also just a true freshman.

Like Dale said, Rutgers was living and dying by trying to stop our run game. I imagine A&M will do the same. May as well sell out until he beats you once or twice. I know that's what I would do if it was me scheming against us.
Derby just doesn't have the arm strength or the accuracy to be a legitimate threat past 10 yards and even that is probably a stretch. I'm sure part of it was nerves during last weeks game as he was sailing ball after ball but a lot of it comes down to talent. He almost got Keon Hatcher killed on a little 5 yard out route by throwing high. You can see on even his dump passes that he just does not have the physical tools to be successful at this level.
I don't think I've ever cringed so much on a 5 yard pass to the flats as I have on one pass he tossed to our FB Kiero Small against Samford. It just awkwardly floated in the air to Kiero. You just knew some SEC DE or LB would snatch that out of the air and take it to the house if he tried it going forward.

If you watched the game, you would have believed it.
Wilson goes down, enter a RS-Freshman playing his first game, so we go all air raid instead of running the ball and securing the win (like the USM game this year). Why? Because Paul Petrino wanted to win by 50 instead of "just win" (his words).
Honestly, several decisions over the course of last year reeked of a coaching staff who didn't mind doing long term harm to the program, burning redshirts on guys who only played a few snaps in one game, etc.
