Ags just haven't had much to get excited about in basketball for a while. Even when Turge was getting us to the Tourney it was the most boring team you have ever seen. You could literally watch 3 games without a single "Sportscenter highlight" type moment. They just grinded out wins against the teams they were supposed to and lost to the teams they were supposed to to finish with slightly above .500 records in conference and maybe won a Tourney game. Nice but when it is the same result for basically 4 years in a row it loses some appeal. Esp when you have a wet blanket like Turge was and a team that played with little emotion.
For this game they are also bringing out the Heisman for fans to get pics with before the game and recognizing the football team. There are also rumors of JFF doing something. It is well known he can do 360 and Windmill dunks at the rec center and is a regular pickup player. Also they are giving out 9k white tshirts. They are just trying to get the fans back and excited.

I was excited about our Turgeon teams, but I like "boring" basketball

If y'all could take Florida to about 4 OTs that would be great.

Ags lose easily in front of a large crowd, nobody shows up the rest of the year.
Best coaching move I've seen from Kennedy since his time here was leaving Andrew "i'm about to turn this shite over" Young on the bench in the second half of the Kentucky game. The kid is terrible.

UF has like 4 starters injured. It will be a clusterfrick

That accurately describes a Billy Kennedy offense.

I guess my point on Turge's teams was his constant whining really got old. I would drive in from Austin for games and the crowd felt kind of lifeless half the time and then in the post game he would bitch about it. I understood his frustration but he never seemed to thank those that did come out or to do anything to get people excited about coming out. He wouldn't visit student groups or participate in promotions. It was really stark to see the difference between him and Gary Blair. There is only so much you can do to guilt people into attendance, you need to find ways to get them excited about wanting to be there.
The style of play was part of it of course. More than the style though was the lack of effort the team often had. It seemed like they would sleepwalk through games against lesser teams and do just enough to win. Lots of turnovers and lack of effort. Then they just wouldn't have the talent to win against the big boys and Turge never pulled in any big names. It's like he never figured out that if you bitch publicly about the support of your fanbase over and over then it doesn't exactly help you on the recruiting trail.
That's what has me excited about how they are handling this UF game. They seem to be really trying hard to get the excitement back. Hopefully they can get some of the energy of the Gillispie era working again. I think Ags just want someone that clearly wants to be there and has players that give 100% effort.

Not with the adjustments he has made the past two games.
