What suggest that? You don't feel like 14-0 is an outlier? NFL Rookie of the year and an O-line with 3000 games under their belts don't happen every year. You will have an OLine made up of a bunch of RS Freshman and a Soph., and no certainty under center. Both DC and OC are new...it doesn't exactly look like a recipe for Miami.

How much time does the guy get if 8-5 happens next year?

But neither is returning the least amount of starters in the country. If we have the same exact year as we did this year next year then yeah his seat will start warming up. But don't be shocked if Auburn has a 10 win season (that's including the bowl).

He's having to compete with some of the best programs in the nation right now in a state where bama is having some of its most success since the 70s and he's still reeling in top 10 classes and competing.

no, I meant what about my post suggests I'm not worried about 8-5 happening again next season? I look at it like potential.. the program's potential for future success is near an all-time high -- recruiting, staff strength, roster talent -- but that doesn't mean we'll reach it under Chizik.

Personally, I feel we'll be a better football team next season -- more experienced, better defensive staff, easier schedule -- but there's a real possibility we won't have a better record at the end of the year.

Both of those 8-5 seasons came when we were predicted by everyone to be a borderline bowl eligible football team. He has exceeded expectations every single year he has been here. He just hired one of the best DC's available and you already know the magic our OC has up his sleeve in regards to developing qb's. We are finally getting our numbers and talent level up to where it needs to be to compete at the elite level. We will probably have some growing pains early next season but we will be a much improved football team and I see no reason not to be very optimistic about the future of Auburn football.

the thing that worries me the most in reaching potential is the play or our QBs. It could be the difference in 7 win season or a 10 win season...

the OL should be better... still inexperienced, but more talented... the defense will improve under VaGorder.. and the schedule isn't as difficult... it rests on the development of Frazier and/or Moseley.

2009 Winning 8 in his first year after the disaster that was Tony Franklin and Tubbs last year was impressive.

2010- national champions, heisman, Outland

2011- 8-5 lost most seniors and starters in entire country and all 5 losses came to teams ranked in final polls despite ESPN and other experts saying they would finish 5th in SEC West and possibly miss bowl game

Chizik has exceeded expectations 3 years in a row. Considering the upgrades in talent and low expectations next year it probably will be 4. Anyone who disagrees is a moron and naive

If we are talking about teams facing longterm mediocrity go talk to UGA and UF.
Grantham and Murray leave soon and they are screwed in Athens. They have zero oline depth poor QB recruiting and an even worse underachieving coach in Mark Richt

UF has had years of top tier recruiting classes under that scum bag coach urban Meyer (CUM) and Boom and Meyer haven't been able to do anything down there these past two years. They are in a down East and they still blow with that talent. I would worry if your favorite past time is gator chomping fans

Oh how short some people's memories are.... Mr Frazier was AP High School Player of the Year. Not ready to call him chicken shite after one year as a wildcat QB

10 yrs ago today, Gene "Dental Smock" Chizik arrived on the Plains.

I always thought he dressed like a throwback to the bowling shirt days of the late 50's - early 60's. ...and it's a pretty good look to sport. I've been kinda lookin' around for some myself. Instead of AU being on them though, they usually promote some lounge/lanes on the back, with your name on the front pocket, such as "Porky", "Lloyd", or "Gene", etc..
