This cannot be true, because according to numerous Auburn and LSU posters and more than a few from Tennessee, we are a desperate dumpster-fire program that is only dreaming about hiring a quality coach. We will be lucky if Central's coach will take us on part-time as a project.

When he beat y'all in 2008 I honestly believed we would run the state for the next 10 years. Couldn't have been more wrong

They have these summer reading comprehension courses. They are only about $200 might be a wise investment for you.

This. I still contend Saban was one of the better things to happen to Auburn football. Good competition breeds better teams for both sides

Saban going to Bama was a great thing for AU. It certainly raised the expectations and recruiting level. Hopefully Pearl to AU has the same effect

Which is easier: Maintaining elite success at a mid-major like WSU with a $21 million athletic budget or turning around an historically above average power 5 school with an athletic budget of $150 million and you get a significant chunk of those resources and virtually anything you want/need as long as you get the job done? Easier? I would say staying status quo at Wichita State. bama would need to recruit against UK and UF to be elite in this conference. It would be much much easier to stay elite in the MVC. bama has a HUGE sports budget. How exactly did that help Grant? (he was a hot commodity when bama hired him, if you remember correctly)

I do remember. But even Grant recruited pretty well early on until most kids figured out he sucked. And still the cupboard isn't bare. Grant had Trevor Lacey and all he did after transferring was to help guide NC State to the Sweet 16. We're not going to compete with UK or UF for many kids. Not for a while anyway. We know we have to win battles against Ole Miss and UGA and Auburn for the level of talent we can pull right now. And that gets an immediate bump up a little with Marshall's name. Then success on the court upgrades the talent level we can get. I say Marshall has us in the Dance in year 2, after that, we'll just have to see where it takes us.

Maybe I've gone full gump.. But Anthony Grant had us on the bubble this year other than losing every close game we played in. I don't think it is unrealistic to think that Marshall can come in and win those close games and get us into the dance as a bubble team in year 1. Yeah we're losing Levi but I think we have some good freshman coming in (I think they all come if we hire Marshall) and we have some decent players that can compete with the right coaching.

Let's hire him first before we speculate how far he will take us next March.

It will be a great hire for bama, but bad move for Marshall...

Yeah, that $2+ million raise is really going to suck for him.

Obviously the money will be right, but career wise it's a terrible move..

You should call him or his agent and offer your experience on the matter. He needs to hear this.

If it's just about money, you guys should go after Mark Few. He is making $500K a year less than Marshall.

What does that say about Pearl's decision to take the job at Auburn?
