Like the topic about CAP and Mason, I come in peace, just have some questions that I hope can be discussed in a civil matter.

What is the DL two deep going to look like for you guys? I know you return plenty of experience and have a lot of talent that I particularly am I high on (such as Ford, Blackson, Eguae, Carter, Wright, and Whitaker), but also brought in two of the top three (imo) DL recruits in Adams and Lawson.

As far as I know (going by Lindy's Magazine, so take it for what it is) this is how it looks as of right now :

DE - Dee Ford (Craig Sanders is listed as the backup, I would have thought Lawson would be listed here, but again this is just a magazine)

DT - Angelo Blackson (Whitaker listed as the backup, both are beasts)

DT - Gabe Wright (Ben Bradley is listed as the backup, I expected to see Adams' name here)

DE - Kenneth Carter (Carter moved to End? Eguae is listed as the backup, I like em both talent wise)

If it's worth anything, I think you guys have the deepest DL in the country based off of talent and expereince.

Carter, Ford, Lawson, Adams, Wright, Blackson, Whitaker, and Eguae, to me, are all good players.

I think Lawson ends up taking the end spot from Carter. Otherwise, the rest of that lineup looks solid. Adams will probably work his way into the rotation, but maybe not immediately

I have a question while we are on the Auburn defense. What kind of D does Ellis Johnson run? I cant remember but DL will probably be there strongest unit on the D and one of the strongest in the nation

How is Craig Sanders still around? Wasn't he in the 2009 class and played as a true freshman?

If Eliis is like he is everywhere he's been, including Alabama, AU will have a solid DL, weak LBs, and decent secondary.

At least he didn't have to coach them up to get there.

4-2-5. The 5th DB is the STAR position, which is a hybrid LB/S. Justin Garrett has it locked down and was our best overall player in the spring.

As for the strongest group, I'd have to go with the DBs over the DL. Chris Davis and Jon Mincy are very solid, and Holsey, Whitehead, McNeal, and JUCO Brandon King make for some good competition at safety

Judging by how they looked last year, how is that even possible?

Davis and Mincy, our top CBs, were constantly banged up all year. Holsey was a freshman but showed good promise. Whitehead just never grasped BVG's defense I guess.

And it's not like our DL set the world on fire either

Yeah I think that DL is just gonna be mean to play against, that's big boy football if I've ever seen it. Gotta give you guys credit where it's due.

As a football fan, I can't wait to see Auburn play, I feel like they will be fun to watch.

As an Alabama fan, well, kiss the rings.

But really, I hope that DL plays to it's potential in every game sans the Iron Bowl.

should be interesting to see how quickly they adapt to the new defensive scheme this year. personally I think gus has put together a coaching squad light years ahead of anything chizik had

We finally have a coach that can do that. Rocker was a good coach, but Pelton did nothing with the talent he had. Garner is a huge upgrade and all indications are the guys are responding well to him

Experience? Well, yeah... they've definitely been through the SEC wars a couple of years now.

Talent? Well, that remains to be seen. I like to think they have talent (and Ford and Blackson have definitely "flashed" some over the past couple of years), but that remains to be seen.

Or, as I like to call it, the 4-2-1-4.

Agreed.

2010 class, IIRC.

We all had high hopes for him after seeing him dominate on special teams, but for whatever reason he just hasn't lived up to the hype. He probably would've been a good linebacker. I guess we'll never know.

Yeah, I've got Aubie going 7-5 (8 wins after bowl game unless they draw a very good team), but if there is some sort of meltdown could see 5-7.

Just going through your schedule, 7 seems more than possible, it seems likely.

WSU can be explosive if they play well, but I don't think their OL will hold up and I don't think they'll have an answer for the running game.

Didn't really watch Arky State last year, but Gus knows that team well and it should be an easy one for Auburn.

I think State is gonna regress this year, but the game will be close, I've got AU winning.

LSU @ Death Valley pretty early in the season can be tough. The new faces up front will still be rather new, so it bodes well for your running game, but I don't see you having much success passing against them. That said, they should have one of the top OLs in the country to combat the DL, and in my mind that's a good counter against Ellis' 4-2-5 look, if the DL isn't dominating, the other team will gash it. Hill/Blue are no slouches. I see LSU winning by double digits, but the game could easily have been closer than the score indicates.

I think you lose to OM in a close game, possibly even an OT game. They return a lot too, and I think after playing a tough LSU game and having a bye week, you'll come out slow.

Dominate WCU to get spirits back up.

Lose to A&M, but I'm thinking it could be closer than some would think, that said I still see A&M winning by around 13.

Dominate FAU.

I think you beat Arky on the road. CBB wants to run the rock, the DL should counter that. I'm not exactly giddy about what Brandon Allen brings to the table for the Hogs either.

I think UT will be better too, but I think they're a year or two away from getting back into shape. That said they could easily have the best OL in the country, and Neal/Lane are an underrated duo. I think QB play could be the difference in this one, I wanna go with the Vols because it's on the road, but I'm gonna give Gus the benefit of the doubt and say he pulls something wild out of his arse to steal a win late.

Lose to Georgia, probably put up plenty of points, but another good OL that counters EJ's 425.

Lose to Bama, but it shouldn't be as bad as last year. I could see something like 31-16.

WSU returns a lot of the front 7 with a lot of Samoans. They also switched over to the 3-4, so schematically they are set up to defend spread run teams. I actually think with Auburn reversing schemes again that will make this somewhat of a low scoring game. Oregon always has a tough time putting away WAZZU. At least they don't give up 50 .

With all the hype around Ole Miss, I still think we can beat them. We're coming off a bye week and playing them at home. Assuming we're 3-1 going into it, the crowd should be like it usually is, unlike last year.

Nobody remembers that last year we were tied going into the second half and down by 4 in the 4th. We were playing on the road with the worst AU team in a long time, and we were in the game with 7 min to play. Then our D and Moseley imploded and they blew us out the last 7 min. I don't think Ole Miss is that far ahead of us.

IMO, out of MSU, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and UT, we can pull out 3-1, but the conservative side in me says 2-2. Either way 7-5 looks solid and I'll take it every day of the week

It hard to tell what we will do. We could go 2-10 or 10-2 who knows. I believe we will go 9-4 with the bowl win.
lose to bama and uga
lose 2 of a&m, lsu, om,
The rest we could win but all but 2 scare me to some degree.
