This is eventually coming. Bjork knows how to get money.

I honestly wouldn't have a problem with it if the university set up the tent for you. To me that's the better business plan. There are tent setup companies that make money off of a university event on university property. Instead of a stranger taking your money, you would be giving to the atheltic department.

Yes. It would be another mess just like the parking.

It just depends. I set up on the walk of champions, are those spots going to be more expensive? Are we really going to trust the university staff to set up our stuff? Have you seen how incompetent these dumbasses they have working the parking lots are?

The only thing I would like about it is getting these a-hole tent setup companies out of the picture. You can put up a tent and they will straight up move your stuff. They move my tent into the fire lane every fricking weekend, and I can't really bitch at the people tailgating there because it's not their fault. These companies are getting paid so much that they have incentive to be assholes and move people's stuff.

The issue is that this hurts the students.

The students don't use the tent setup they sit in the grove all day on Friday for their spots.

The alums and out of towers use the setup company. So going from them to the school would be great IMO. But how can you regulate that to work both ways with the students and with the alums? I just don't know of its possible.

I think it wouldn't be so bad if there was security or someone keeping people from congregating in the middle of the walkways. Maybe it was just like that for the game this weekend, but I don't remember it being as bad 2 yrs ago or the 2 yrs before that or the 2 yrs before that...

You try to walk around them and then you end up walking through people's tailgates where people are already crowded in under tents.

That's not the issue here. We are talking about tent spaces

It was a huge issue Saturday. But to your point, a lot of the students could be booted out if you charged for tent space, then it would be a snooze fest. Can you boot out all the old people instead?

It would screw over the students big time. Alumni would probably love it, but I think it would really hurt the students and in the long run hurt the Grove overall and the experience. Would you be able to get the same spot every week, would location cost more, would multiple tents cost more than one tent, could the university keep all that straight and not mess up every week... It just seems like a bad idea to me.

HELL yes. It would cause a major backlash that they don't want to see.

I wouldn't mind the University having it's own tent setup company. One that could hopefully push the others out of business (seriously, frick those guys), but I don't like the idea of them charging everybody who wants a spot.

I really don't have an opinion, just playing devils advocate but it's gonna happen. They have been surveying fans in the grove the past two weeks.

As far as the students go, they won't and can't sell every space in the grove. It will be only spots on the walkways and other popular areas. There will still be plenty of room for students to grab spots but they won't have wait 8 hours to save that spot because it won't be on walk way.

If you don't think it's going to kill the environment, you're mistaken.

I've heard from some certain people that this is going to happen very soon. School said they are losing money by students putting up tents, and there not being enough room for advertising. School said they lose 100,000 dollars a year because of this.

Without the students The Grove would die. They'll never build the experience and so they won't give two shits about coming back to The Grove when they have the money to rent a space.
