There is more to it than his side or our side. Tee might not be a very good person.

Do we have anything to suggest that?

Note - I'm not crucifying either side, but with the complete ineptitude our coaching staff has shown recently Tee's story is totally believes me to me.

I don't know the specifics. But just look at what he's posted to the public since the Vandy game. Then imagine what it's been like behind closed doors.

The injuries are hurting for sure but I think we are missing our leaders more than anything. DT, Bo, Senquez and Cody were the heart of last years' team. Now that they are gone, it's pretty much all on CJ and Mike Hilton

It's all on CJ and Mike Hilton? I guess I'm too old school, but leadership probably starts with the coaches and then filters down to some extent to a handfull of players. This conversation is making it seem like with those leaders that have graduated it's just a buncha players running around like wild Indians. I don't get it.

Add Elston to that list. They're the only ones that appear to give a damn.

Well, I certainly think Treadwell cares and Kelly has put it on the line multiple times so far, even if he hasn't always been perfect.

I think he means defensively, which is the real problem this year. Offensively we are exactly the same except we have a better QB and no Tunsil. Defense is the difference this year. Ours is putrid.

Which is kind of scary since everyone except Bo (who doesn't belong on that list--see LSU game last year) was recruited by Nutt not Freeze.

It's been something I noticed last year that worried me. All of our leaders have been converted Nutt recruits. ??

Elston is a Freeze guy. Hilton was recruited by Freeze. Issac Gross was recruited by Freeze I think in the first class. While Senquez was recruited by Nutt he didn't buy into the system until his senior year under Freeze.

I think it has less to do with leadership and more to do with ability. They just fundamentally are not good right now. I've never seen so many missed tackles.

I agree. I think the drop off in our top guys and the backups are the difference. Moore twins, Caldwell, Russell, Still, Sims. These guys either suck, aren't ready, or aren't SEC caliber players. Its showing.

It all goes back to running the ball though. We run the ball it shortens the game, defense not on the field as long. Run the ball takes pressure off Kelly, not as many mistakes. Run the ball opens up more throws downfield.

You simply can not win in this league if you can not run the ball. It never has been done.

There is just no real explanation for Memphis other than we got outcoached and we had some guys playing that are just not D-1 football players. I know he tries hard, but Ben Still should be playing at somewhere like Rhodes or Sewanee. I don't think we have a single linebacker that would start at another SEC school. One of the saddest parts about that game is it is the guys with Memphis ties that were so bad. Walton, Wilkins, Ben Still, and of course Hugh Freeze. I think we miss DT and Cody more than we could have imagined. Those guys set the tone and we just don't have that with CJ and Tony out hurt.

I agree on having a rushing attack but that won't fix the Defense. They simply are letting to many 3rd down conversions to occur via bad scheme and piss poor tackling. We aren't just talking about 3rd & short but 3rd and a mile has been common conversions. You can not give up huge cushions to WRs/TEs in those scenarios. The players are SEC caliber (definitely the Moore twins who I watched in HS) but have to be coached & put in a scheme that works and "bend but don't break isn't working with these guys right now".

It won't fix third downs but a running game would shorten the game. Our offense this year isn't a driving offense. We live and die off of big plays. Often times drives take a couple minutes at best. Good to get points but defense is immediately back on the field. At times we need long sustained drives. With no running game that isn't possible.
