MJ Daniels is in the portal

That tweet from him a week or so ago now makes sense. He’ll probably end up at State. Did he lift a weight this year?

They need to put a date in place to cut off transferring.

Probably triggered by the Buckley departure.

Transfer portal is a cancer that is ruining college football along with NIL deals. RIP

Agreed what a shame that 18-22 year olds are getting paid their market value and getting to go to school of their own choosing every year.

Gonna need tweaking I betcha.

Just wait until we lose a star QB or RB one year due to them going to Bama to get paid. You will hate the portal then. It's gonna happen I promise.

I’ve gone back and forth in the portal quite a bit.
I think of how football was in the 90s/00s and how rare it was for a player to transfer and things. And how you knew the guys from the freshman year to their senior year and how great it was.
Now it’s free agency every single offseason. shite is going to be wild yearly. Don’t get attached to anyone cause they will be gone in a snap of a finger.
I will miss what football used to be. No doubt it is a different monster now. I have always been against paying players. I felt their scholarships and all the perks they got were enough.
But overall I have decided I think the portal is ok and right for players. A coach can up and leave whenever they damn well please. A normal student can up and changes colleges whenever they please. So why shouldn’t a player who picked a team at 17/18 that had a TON of pressure on them be able to leave whenever they want to as well.
I dunno. Should be be some limitations on it? Possibly. Just not sure how you can honestly justify them aside from “preserving the game of football” that honestly only the fans give a shite about.

but....they can't.
They have to buyout their contract.

I think this can be solved with NIL deal buyout clauses (with strict limitations) and instituting a rule that says the portal closes two weeks after the national championship. If you want to transfer, the other schools boosters have to buy you out. Then you have to make your decision in a timely manner. Maybe there can be a post spring football window of about 2-3 weeks for it to reopen, but that's it.

Why do we always get an open date before Bama? Give us the open date after we play them. We really need to start 6-0 to have a good season next year. Closing with Bama, Ark, and State will be tough with Arky and State wanted revenge and Bama looking to be no. 1 or closer to it again.

That back 5 stretch is gonna be a problem. Definitely a #WeBelieve type schedule.

Let’s be real. A coach does whatever they want whenever they want.

MJ Daniels out of the portal.
Edit - never mind.

You’re certainly right about that, but I think the fans are essentially all college football really is…Where does the money come from? Fans. Who are boosters? Fans with money and influence. Who are the fans? People who are emotionally invested in a school/program and TVs sure as hell aren’t watching themselves on Saturday night! I agree think that players deserve a cut and deserve a say in their future, but those that act as if money is the REAL driving force behind it all are not thinking it through imo. That’s why preserving the game is so important. Now how we do that is a different story and I definitely don’t have the answer, but I can 100% tell you that the current state of cfb is putting massive stress on a once robust product. How the hell am I supposed to be invested in Georgia’s backup playing in an Ole Miss jersey for a year? Just my 2 cents…..
Edit:I immediately went over to r/cfb on Reddit and saw this post. Thought it helped my argument. Let’s not ruin the game in the name of profit.
