What's the overall perception of Coach O in Rebel Nation? Love? Hate? Indifferent?

Sometimes I think we fired him one year too soon.

I don't mind him anymore. He wasn't ready and was in over his head. Especially as head coach which almost requires a figurehead more so than an actual coach.

Orgeron gave it his best but ultimately failed. Nutt didn't give a shite and failed. I'll take the guy who worked hard and tried to succeed over the fricker who shows up to collect a check while knowingly running the program into the ground

The coaching staff had been telling recruits that they were going to the spread the next year. I firmly believe it would've been Hugh's offense since Hugh was the WR coach. So we'd have Snead, McCluster, Shay Hodge, and Mike Wallace running the HUNH.

I don't respect Nutt. He didn't care if you broke the law, failed a thousand drug tests, went to class, etc. He made our program look like shite and did not develop a single player into what they were capable of.

Does anyone actually think Evan Engram would have been offered or done well under Nutt? Hell no.

Towards the end he had the same attitude that dismissive opposing fans have about Ole Miss? "I won two Cotton Bowls for them, how could they ever fire me?" He just didn't give a shite and coasted, spending his time bitching with our Rivals guys instead of game planning.

frick. That. Sack. Of. shite.

Ok, I will offer my insight on this. I known the Freeze family for 30 years or more. Not closely per say but well enough. I was told he was contacted late off week...or his Manager was contacted. Freeze has not been directly contacted. His agent was told that he was VERY high on Florida wish list....and he was later told what they would pay. They inqured interest level....Freeze agent obviously said they would always entertain offers. Thats when the numbers were listed. They then turned this over to Ole Miss.

So this is how all this took place. Freeze himself has almost 100% removed himself from all this. I ask if Freeze would leave and the family member looked at me with an "are you crazy look" on their face and said no way.

Officially, no offer from florida, but know they would never offer unless they were 100% sure he was taking it....... that was Saturday.....cant give info past that.

I'm not sure. I know we ran Schaeffer from the shotgun a good bit that year against LSU with some success.

ETA: Checked stats and yes, Schaeffer had 8 carries for 94 yards and a TD. Also had 200 yards passing and a TD but 2 picks.

I can't think of a situation you can compare this to, when you consider his fast rate success at his dream job 30 minutes away from where he was born / raised.. I have a feeling none of you are worried and quite frankly I wouldn't be either.

If he leaves, then everything he said about his being home and everything else he said would be a lie. This would make him a fraud and he can leave.

If he stays then he is what we thought and if he can figure out how to call consistent plays for 12 games then we might have something special.

I have already mentally prepared myself for both.

I'm not at all worried. I just don't believe the man is that big of a fraud and a liar. A move like him leaving completely destroys his integrity, regardless of the money, because of the way he has presented himself.

Honestly, I think the reason these reports have gotten this attention (much is the same case with Mullen) is because most people can't understand why a coach would love being at a school in Mississippi and are hoping he's lying to the fan bases to be able to laugh in the face of all of our fans for believing that anyone wants to stay and attempt to truly build these programs.

Or maybe this is just me being overly sensitive to national media, I have no idea.
