Jackson itself sucks but if you live in Madison county or the Flowood area, they are nice places to live. Stay clear of South Jackaon.

Agreed. If you can afford Madison I suggest that. Flowood and Brandon are your more middle-class options. Take the raise I say, companies like those more willing to travel.

Brandon is too sprawling to make this assumption. I know what you mean, but North Shore is nowhere near mid class and is in Brandon. Hell, everything from Puckett to Hwy43 on the Rez is Brandon..

This, except if you live in these areas you have to look down your nose at people who live in Jackson. It's just par for the course.

Like Hardy said the food here is second to none. In some cities you might find one or two little gems but the Jackson area has a ton of em. (that's why we're all fat asses) But don't expect to find fun in Jackson. It forgot about us long ago.

There is a difference in 39042 (middle class) and 39047 (upper-middle to upper class)

Sad but Truuu

Hardy- you're right it does widely vary..

I think we can all say that clearly you do not want to live in Jackson, but the areas surrounding are not bad.

I'm here bro.
My job is locked to state borders and the wife is in the medical field.. Most of our upper mobility career wise will be here. We're bidding on houses and trying to make kids as we speak..

That's awesome.

Please convince Bundy that Jackson isn't that bad and he can, in fact, go out there and not get raped/robbed.

A bunch of my friends and I are going to Top of the Hops at the end of this month. Ready to get an awesome beer buzz going.

Rankin, Hinds and Madison Counties all suck... Unless you're an MSU grad... In that case you will convince yourself that it is a bastion of modern culture where all kinds of great things are happening.

Even MSU grads know that Jackson is terrible. shite, I've got more Ole Miss friends moving back to Jackson than anyone else because they've become huge boring pussies.

As someone who grew up in the Jackson area, I agree, but not to the same extent.

There aren't a lot of places in Mississippi worth living in my 20's, with Jackson actually being one of the few. There are decent bars and restaurants in Jackson, albeit few and far in between. Other than that, it's unsafe and boring.

That said, I'm happy that young people are moving back there. The only way the city's going to get any better is if people move there and contribute to the local culture and economy. Everyone who says 'OMG IT SUX' while living wherever the frick they live are pussies, plain and simple.

That title should go to West Memphis, AR.
