I still believe that Bentley did something personal that Kiffin didn’t want to make public. Maybe had to do with Landry or Layla? Either way, it made zero sense then and makes zero sense now… and that’s the one real knock I have against him as our coach… dudes getting paid too much to let personal grudges cost us success (if that’s what happened)

Is this just speculation?

Of course it is. A tad creepy to just assume it as well. He was definitely beefing with the coaches though.

Clearly, Bentley did or didn't do something as it relates to football, or perhaps even academics. But how tfrick did Whistlin' even think to come to the idea that Bentley was doing something inappropriate or otherwise with Kiffin's daughters?

He didn’t come up with it. That rumor has been floating since early last season.

I had heard he tried to or fricked the RB coach’s wife. Don’t know how true that is though obviously

Twice, we had the ball deep in Gator territory and ran JJ frickin' Pegues on 4th and 1.

IIRC both times were off tackle. Trying to be cute costed us that game. Just run it up the middle.

This isn’t new news or new speculation whatsoever… this was openly discussed on here at that time

And it’s the only speculation that made any remote sense as to Lane’s behavior

I would think if Bentley banged or seriously tried to bang the RB coach's wife, he wouldn't be on the team.

And I would think he would get to run the fricking ball over a WR too, even after having breakout games when he was put in

But…. The coaching staff refused

So something had to have happened… and it’s something they clearly didn’t want public, which makes me think it’s interpersonal

And I didn’t come up with this, I heard it from non-SECR folks through the grapevine… granted, could be total BS… but thus is the speculation game

it was speculated because it was just insane that we didn't play him until the egg bowl.

But the more logical thought was that it had to do with Parrish and the RB coach both coming from Miami at the same time and there being favoritism. That's still on Lane to not overrule him.

And if it's in the RB coaches contract that he has full control over the RB depth chart....that's still on Lane but also the Carter.

"hurr durr he must have fricked the coach's wife" has been a "thing" for decades across all sports.

I wasn’t hearing it from the “hurr durr” crowd, I was hearing it from students

But, it is what it is. Ain’t like there’s anything that proves anything one way or another

I don't blame Lane for the LSU loss. Harris's dropped TD wasn't his fault, nor was the missed 32-yard FG. That's just some Bayou Voodoo bullshite.

That and, you know, the home team in Tiger Stadium gets a favorable call now and then. As y'all may favorably recall, we had five penalties called against us that either took away a first down from us or gave them one.

us only rushing 3 or 4 against a rhythm QB all night long is to blame for that loss. Bama fans bitching about Pete Golding over the last few seasons seemed idiotic up until that night. The strength of that defense was the front 7. Why in the frick are we letting Nuss get 6-7 seconds of clean pocket on a 3 man rush and allowing him to pick apart our secondary downfield?

You saw what Bama did to Nuss in their game against them. Wish we would've done that.

Bentley was actually f'n miserable outside of 2-3 big runs. They just happened in big moments so elevated.
