What teams across college basketball and football would you compare to Ole Miss baseball's recent or vast history?

The best I can think of for college football is Georgia and for basketball, Ohio State. UGA has a good football program and everyone recognizes them as such, but there always seems to be something that gets in the way whether it's their fault (Murray's last drive against Bama) or not (hurt by a rule that doesn't exist).

Ohio State is always pretty good at basketball and occasionally makes a good run but they're not recognized by outsiders as having an elite basketball school like their conference foes (Indiana and Michigan State). They always send people to the pros but oftentimes they don't work out (Oden and Cook) but sometimes they do (Conley).

I figured I would start this with baseball just two weeks away. Any other parallels?

Please don't take this as a negative. Your baseball program reminds me of our football program. Hasn't been a big deal, outside of a few years here and there, and has recently emerged to be strong. You have a coach that has turned things around but until this last season hadn't been able to close the deal to put you on that next level. Reached a pinnacle, to this point, last season being considered a top 10 team.

Man, that's not a troll. I'm really happy with our football program and you guys have to be with your baseball.

The difference is baseball success at a school our size is much easier to sustain than football. Bianco has done a great job.

I don't think I agree with any of these comparisons though I don't follow hockey too closely.

I was just throwing a bullshite team out there. I really think your UGA football comparison is as accurate as it gets. Richt and Bianco's tenure have many similarities. Just checked and they've both been on the job since '01 as well

Dude, UGA is a top ten to twelve football program all time. Ohio State is also a top ten to fifteen basketball program all time.

We aren't even close.

Richt has won the division several times though and UGA has won national titles in football. I guess if you only consider recent history, then maybe. Honestly I put Bianco above Richt though, the amount of talent Richt has is incredible to be just mediocre with every single season.

On a program level, I'm with TA. UGA is top tier.

I really wasn't approaching this topic from an "all-time" aspect. As the two programs sit right now, they're pretty similar. I don't know how anyone who hangs out with trannies has the right to snicker at me

Not looking at it all time, i agree with the OP. However, if we can continue this success from the past year then we could earn that "elite" status

Hit post too early: their success has stemmed from a coach coming in and changing the culture. Now they're a pretty solid team year in and year out.
