Fwiw Shea said his Mississippi contact said to keep an eye on Ole Miss for Newman, as he's been recruiting him since the 7th grade. Damn that is some dedication

Shea Patterson?

The more I go through the teams, LSU and Ole Miss make the most sense.

He wants minutes. So that kills UK and KU especially if the twins come back.

He wants to go to the tourney. Well to be honest that probably hurts State.

He wants to be a PG. Well that's the one spot we have open. I don't know about LSU.

According to our rivals guys NC State is still very in it.

Horatio had some pretty nice things to say this morning.

Anyone taking State out of this discussion is foolish now.

Ftr Newman isn't a Adidas kid. He's nike and his Jackson AAU team always has been.

I was just trying posting anything to see if I could still post here.

Do you mind editing?

Why do you want it to go away? Just say you were mistaken.

I think State is still in it. I don't think Malik has eliminated anyone.

I still think it's likely:

50% LSU
30%UK
5% KU
5% Ole Miss
5% State
5% NC State

I agree with this. I've even read some Kentucky fans alluding to Cal moving on, but Kentucky is a few extra players leaving early from signing him.

I think LSU is the best of both worlds when it comes to the pros of State and Ole Miss. LSU isn't State's rival, so Newman being a state legacy won't have pressure or repercussions signing with State's biggest rival. LSU will also have the depth to make a nice tournament run, which is obviously something he's looking for with Kansas and Kentucky being candidates. State has NIT level talent, so i'm not sure if expediting State's rebuilding process is in his best interest. Ole Miss has a strong nucleus coming back in Moody and Saiz, but I saw a surprising amount of seniors on the roster who contributed

It's a really tough call tbh. he's handled the process really well

He really has. He hasn't tipped his hand at all.

As much of an attention whore he is, he hasn't really been dramatic or anything on Twitter.

Agreed, but he could potentially enjoy being the undoubted best player on our roster. Big man on campus and what not. It'll be interesting to see moving forward because he repeatedly states PROs that LSU, Ole Miss, and State all have. Like you said, LSU has the best of both worlds.

He'd be the big man on campus at Ole Miss too.

I'm not so sure about LSU though.

Dropped an excellent, subtle troll in that "SEC is better top to bottom" thread on tMain Board.

there's already an absurd amount of hype around Ben Simmons and Blakeney coming in. He may not be "the" big man on campus, but they'd be the most hyped trio since Shaq, Chris Jackson, and Stanley Roberts were in BR. He'd get plenty of attention and notoriety

Newman said on TV tonight that Howland will have a good team in a few years.

For a one-and-done player, can't see him waiting a few years.

We could be getting two transfers from Memphis soon. Nick King and Pookie Powell. King is looking at us and Murrary State. Don't know about Powell.

According to the UM website, King is a 6'7 Forward/Guard and Powell is a 6'1 Guard.

GET EM AK

eta: Do players redshirt in basketball the same way they do in football? If so neither player practiced or played with the team their freshmen years so they would still have 3 years left right?

King is ours to lose. Not so sure on Powell.

I think they can play 3. Not 100% sure on basketball transfer rules though.
